Chapter 3 Collecting Troubleshooting Information

3.1 Type of Information

The following table lists the type of information and it's overview that is needed for investigating the Shunsaku problems.

The triggers of each error event are roughly divided as follows:

Collected Information

Environment Files

A file for controlling the operation of each Shunsaku process.

Log Files

A file for recording the operation of each Shunsaku process.

Performance Log Files

A file for recording the performance information of each Shunsaku process.

System Log/Event Log

A logging file controlled by an operating system.
All the events from an operating system and the application will be output to this logging file.

User's Operation Record

The information for understanding the actual operation procedure, error message, etc.

Direct Access Key Definition File

A file for defining a direct access key name using in the direct access function. This file is only necessary when the direct access function is used.

The information needed according to the event and the condition.

Collected Information

Overview

Search Expressions, Return Expressions, Sort Expressions

Search expressions, return expressions and sort expressions that are specified in Shunsaku API.
(Only needed when the API error occurs)

API Snapshot Log

The I/O information of each API that is collected when using the API snapshot.
(Only needed when the API error occurs)

Application Sources

A source of an application that uses the Shunsaku APIs (Java/.NET/C).

XML Data

An XML document stored in Shunsaku.

Shell Script or Batch

A shell script or a batch using in the business job.
