15.4.1 Modifying Live Help Connection Manager configuration

Because all users on your network can share the same Live Help Connection Manager, a single Live Help Connection Manager computer is enough for most cases. However you may need an additional Live Help Connection Manager computer if you want to manage more than 63 support sessions, since one Live Help Connection Manager can manage up to 63 sessions.

Also, you may need to change or delete the configuration information of a Live Help Connection Manager computer when you change the TCP/IP address of the Live Help Connection Manager computer, or replace the computer.

In such cases, you can use the CMADMIN program to modify necessary settings.

Before moving to each operation, start the CMADMIN program with the following steps.

  1. Start the Live Help Connection Manager.

Start the LiveHelp Connection Manager service on the Live Help Connection Manager computer.

  2. Start the CMADMIN program.

Note

One Live Help CM computer can process a maximum of 63 sessions simultaneously. The number of sessions is the total number of Live Help Client terminals that have established sessions via the Live Help CM computer. (For example, if two Live Help Client terminals have established sessions, the number of sessions is two.) If participating in a session from a Live Help Expert terminal established via a Live Help CM computer, the number of Live Help CM sessions does not increase.

Refer to the following sections for detailed instructions for each step.

15.4.1.1 Adding a Live Help Connection Manager

When you add a Live Help Connection Manager computer, you have two choices to manage it: Install a new CMADMIN program on the added computer, or use the existing CMADMIN program.

If you choose to install a new CMADMIN program on the added Live Help Connection Manager computer, follow the section Connecting to Live Help Connection Manager in Using Live Help Connection Manager with Basic Configuration to identify the added computer.

If you choose to manage all Live Help Connection Manager computers using the existing CMADMIN program, follow the steps below to add configuration parameters for the new Live Help Connection Manager computer to the CMADMIN program first. Then refer to the section Connecting to Live Help Connection Manager in Using Live Help Connection Manager with Basic Configuration to identify the added computer.

  1. Choose Add command from the MANAGERS menu.

  2. When the Connection Manager Parameters dialog box displays, specify the following information:

    • Name:
Type a name that describes the new Live Help Connection Manager (e.g. "Support Manager 1," "Third Floor Connection Manager," "Stamford Remote").

    • Host Name or IP Address:
You can either enter a logical host name or the actual IP address of the Live Help Connection Manager computer.

      Note

When you use the host name to identify the Live Help Connection Manager computer, the host name must be resolved on the computers on which Live Help Client, Live Help Expert, or CMADMIN program is installed. Refer to the section Connecting to Live Help Connection Manager in Using Live Help Connection Manager with Basic Configuration for more details.

      Information

If you are not sure of the host name or IP address of the new Live Help Connection Manager computer, you can run the Address Information (INFOTCP.EXE) program which is available in the Fujitsu Live Help folder on the Start menu of the Live Help Connection Manager computer. It displays the IP address in a dialog box, and writes it to a file named CMTCP.ADR that is stored in the install folder of the Live Help Connection Manager. Then you can click the Import button to import the address. This will prevent you from specifying a wrong TCP/IP address.

  3. Click OK.

The CMADMIN program establishes a connection with the added Live Help Connection Manager computer if the specified host name or TCP/IP address is correct. Once the connection is made, you can configure your Support Centers.

15.4.1.2 Changing the information for a Live Help Connection Manager

To change the configuration parameters of a Live Help Connection Manager computer, do the following:

  1. Select the appropriate Live Help Connection Manager computer in the Connection Manager list.

  2. Select Configure command in the MANAGERS menu.

  3. When the Connection Manager Parameters dialog box displays, Change the information as needed.

Refer to the section Adding a Live Help Connection Manager for details on each item in the dialog box.

  4. Click OK.

The CMADMIN program establishes a connection with the Live Help Connection Manager computer if the specified host name or TCP/IP address is correct.

Note

If you change the host name or IP address of the Live Help Connection Manager computer, you need to update the CCL file for the Support Centers in the Live Help Connection Manager. Re-write the CCL files for each Support Center and distribute them to users who use the Support Centers. For details, refer to the section Creating a CCL file and Distributing a CCL file in Customizing Live Help Connection Manager.

15.4.1.3 Deleting a Live Help Connection Manager

To delete configuration parameters for a Live Help Connection Manager computer, do the following:

  1. Select the appropriate Live Help Connection Manager computer in the Connection Manager list.

  2. Choose Delete command from the MANAGERS menu.

  3. When a dialog box asking you to confirm the delete appears, click Yes. The CMADMIN program deletes the configuration parameters for the Live Help Connection Manager, and closes the connection to the computer.

Note

The Delete command deletes configuration parameters (the information used to connect a Live Help Connection Manager computer) registered on the CMADMIN program, but not Support Centers configured in the deleted Live Help Connection Manager. If you want to delete Support Centers as well, delete them before removing the Live Help Connection Manager. Refer to the section Deleting a Support Center in Modifying Support Centers on how to delete Support Centers.
