A CCL file is a configuration file that Live Help programs refer to find the available Support Centers. This file is stored in a subdirectory where the Live Help program files are installed, and contains Support Center configuration information, such as the name of the Support Center and the host name or IP address of the Live Help Connection Manager computer that manages the Support Center.
When you install Live Help Expert or Live Help Client program, the default CCL file named SUPTCP.CCL is created. The settings preset in this file are:
Host name for Live Help Connection Manager computer: CMTCP
Support Center name: Support TCP/IP
When you can establish Live Help sessions using this CCL file, you don't need to create another CCL file. However, you may need to create and distribute an additional CCL file when; the host name of the Live Help Connection Manager is other than "CMTCP," the host name "CMTCP" is not resolved on your network, or you want to use a Support Center other than "Support TCP/IP."
Also, you need to delete the corresponding CCL file when you remove a Support Center.
To add a Support Center to the Connection Manager, follow the steps below:
Start the Live Help Connection Manager.
Start the LiveHelp Connection Manager service on the Live Help Connection Manager computer.
Start the CMADMIN program.
Select an appropriate Support Center in the Centers list box.
After checking that the appropriate Live Help Connection Manager computer is chosen in the Connection Manager list, click the Support Center that you want to create a CCL file for.
Point
You can create a CCL file that contains entries for more than one Support Centerjust highlight (click) more than one Support Center in the "Centers" list box, then write the CCL file. However, we recommend you write a separate CCL file for each Support Center rather than grouping several records into one file. Separate files make it easier to manage and maintain your configuration.
Select Write CCL File command on the FILE menu.
When the Save As dialog box displays, enter the name of the Support Center file, and the drive and directory where you want to write the file.
Point
Each file name must be unique.
Try to make the name as descriptive as possible. For example, if the name of the Support Center is "Help Desk," name the file "HELPDESK.CCL."
Click Save.
Refer to the following sections for detailed instructions for each step.
When you have created a new CCL file, distribute it to Experts and Clients. The folders to copy the CCL file into are:
For the Client application
The CLICCL subdirectory of the install folder of Live Help Client program.
For Expert/Monitor applications
The EXPCCL subdirectory of the install folder of Live Help Expert program.
Note
A second file, named DCTCP.CCL, is in the above subdirectories. It contains configuration information for the TCP/IP Direct Connect connection method. Do not edit or delete this file.
You have to distribute the new CCL file to all Experts and Clients who use the Support Center corresponding to the CCL file.
When you remove a Support Center, remember to delete the corresponding CCL file in the following folders:
For the Client application
The CLICCL subdirectory of the install folder of Live Help Client program.
For Expert/Monitor applications
The EXPCCL subdirectory of the install folder of Live Help Expert program.
Note
A second file, named DCTCP.CCL, is in the above subdirectories. It contains configuration information for the TCP/IP Direct Connect connection method. Do not delete this file.
