This section describes how to upgrade a Storage Management Server which serves as a Storage Server and the GUI client.
9.1.1 Backing up the repository data
Save the repository data of the environment to a location outside the ACM directory paths before the upgrade.
9.3.2 Backing up management information
Save the management information of the environment to a location outside the ACM directory paths before the upgrade.
Delete the repository operating environment, and uninstall the existing version from the Storage Management Server.
Install the new product version, and create the repository operating environment.
9.1.6 Restoring repository data
Restore the backed-up repository data.
9.1.7 Version Upgrade of GUI Client
Upgrade the version of the GUI client.
9.1.8 Changing server information
Make the appropriate changes to the server information to ensure data consistency if necessary.
9.3.8 Restoring management information
Restore the backed-up management information.
Note
Change to the configuration during the upgrade:
Changing configuration when upgrading.
If the server name, IP address, or port number of the Storage Management Server must be changed during the upgrade, make the change after completing the upgrade using the above procedure. Refer to "Changing the Operating Environment" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide" for details on how to make the change.
If backup has been performed for the LVM (Logical Volume Manager) volumes.
For AIX
Restart the operating system in the installation procedure while upgrading the Storage Server.
The volume status changes from "Available" to "Defined" by restarting the operating system, but the volume may be detected as another new device.
