Note

[Upgrading AdvancedCopy Manager for Linux]

After upgrading, the udev device names listed below are used with priority in environments that have udev device names:

  • normal device

  • PRIMECLUSTER GDS SDX object (operating time of slice unit only)

Refer to "Devices supported for AdvancedCopy Manager" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (Linux)" for details of udev device names.

After the upgrade, take the following actions in accordance with the device names used for operations:

  • For operations that use compatible device names

Use stgxfwcmsetmode (Information capture mode setting command) to change the information collection command such that udev device names are not used.

Refer to "Devices supported for AdvancedCopy Manager" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (Linux)" for details of changing the information collection mode.

  • For operations that use udev device names

Delete the backup management, replication management and tape backup definition information and incorporate the udev device names, then redefine the backup, replication and tape backup using udev device names.

Refer to "Changing the devices configuration" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (Linux)" for the backup management and replication management procedures.

Refer to "Changing the devices configuration" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (Tape Backup Option).

[Upgrading AdvancedCopy Manager for HP-UX]

  • For HP-UX 11i v2 or earlier

If you use HP-UX 11i v2 or earlier, then you must fetch device information. If necessary, reflect the settings when new, changed or deleted devices are detected. For details on how to fetch device information, refer to the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (HP-UX)", section "Backup Operations" > "Preparing to Start the Backup" > "Fetching device information on a Storage Server".

  • For HP-UX 11i v3 or later

In HP-UX 11i v3 or later, the device has two names in new and conventional format. For details on device names, refer to the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (HP-UX)", section "Overview of AdvancedCopy Manager" > "Managing a Device on AdvancedCopy Manager". Depending on the device format, perform the procedure below.

    • In case a different format is used for device names before and after upgrading

Before upgrading, set the device format using stgxfwcmsetmode (Information collection mode setup command), and then delete the definition for the backup management, replication management and tape backup.

After that, set the device format used after upgrading using stgxfwcmsetmode (Information collection mode setup command), and then fetch the device information and redefine the backup/replication and tape backup.

For details on setting the information collection mode, refer to the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (HP-UX)", section "Commands" > "Configuration Management Commands".

For details on backup and replication management, refer to the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (HP-UX)", section "Operational Maintenance" > "Changing the Operating Environment" > "Changing the device configuration".

For details on how to back up to a tape, refer to the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide for Tape Backup Option", section "Operational Maintenance" > "Changing the Operating Environment" > "Changing the device configuration".

    • In case the same format is used for device names before and after upgrading

It is necessary to set the format of the device names using stgxfwcmsetmode (information collection mode setup command) even if the same device name format is used before and after upgrading.

For details on setting the information collection mode, refer to , refer to the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Operator's Guide (HP-UX)", section "Commands" > "Configuration Management Commands".
