This section explains the replacement procedure for Fibre Channel switch (hereafter, refer to as switch) registered in this product.
Also, the procedure differs according to pre-replaced and post-replaced switch models and any change in IP address.
If the pre-replaced and post-replaced switch models and the IP address are the same
Record the settings of threshold monitoring. (if thresholds are monitored)
On completion of device replacement, perform the Reload Conf. operation on Web Console.
Based on the settings at step 1, start to monitor thresholds. (if thresholds are monitored)
If the pre-replaced switch model and the post-replaced switch model are different
Stopping the performance monitoring of the switch to be replaced (when it is not a monitored device, this operation is unnecessary).
If threshold monitoring is also set, stop the threshold monitoring first and then stop the performance monitoring.
On the global navigation tab, click Network.
On the Main pane, click the switch to be replaced.
On the Category pane, click Performance.
On the Performance pane, click Configuration.
On the Action pane, click Stop under Performance.
Check that the monitored status of the switch to be replaced is "Stop".
Deleting the replaced switch from this product
On the global navigation tab, click Network.
On the Main pane, select the checkbox of the replaced switches.
On the Action pane, click Delete under Switch.
Delete the replaced switch.
On the switch overview screen, check that the replaced switch is not displayed.
Physical replacement of old and new switches
For device replacement, contact a Fujitsu customer engineer and perform the replacement according to the maintenance procedure manual for the device.
When replacing a switch that is not connected in cascade, you may have to manually perform zoning settings again if the switch configuration information (configUpload file) has not been stored. After registering the new switch in this product, perform step 6, "Setting of switch zoning" below. Refer to the manual that comes with this device for the switch configuration information (configUpload file).
Registering a new switch to this product
Refer to "Register FC Switch" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to register a switch.
Refer to "5.2.3 Registering Device" for information required when registering a switch.
Refreshing the access path status
On the global navigation tab, click Server.
On the Server pane, click Access Path.
On the Action pane, click Refresh under Access Path Status.
On the access path overview screen, check that the access path status has been refreshed.
Setting the switch zoning
Since the zoning information specified for newly replaced switches that are managed by this product does not exist, access paths are displayed as definition inconsistency (Changed). Therefore, manually reset the zoning.
If no zoning is set for replaced switches or switches that are connected in a cascade, zoning resetting is not required.
If there is configuration information (the configUpload file), refer to the maintenance manual for the device.
Note
If the switch zoning information is as follows, the zoning access paths are not displayed regardless of pre- or post-switch replacement.
Zoning other than HBA to CA access pathway managed by this product (HBA to HBA, CA to CA, HBA to UnknownFC, CA to UnknownFC, UnknownFC to UnknownFC)
Therefore, even after switch replacement, no Warning is displayed against the access path definition inconsistency such as between HBA and CA.
If any zoning other than access path between HBA and CA is configured to a switch to be replaced, use Web Tools or CLI for the switch to configure the zoning.
Starting the performance monitoring of the new switch (when it is not a monitored device, this operation is unnecessary).
On the global navigation tab, click Network.
On the Main pane, click the target switch name.
On the Category pane, click Performance.
On the Performance pane, click Configuration.
On the Action pane, click Start under Performance.
Check that the monitored status of the new switch is "Monitoring".
Perform the threshold monitoring setting again once the threshold monitoring setting has been performed.
Note
If the configuration information has been customized, then check the content of the configuration settings file before starting performance monitoring.
