5.1.7 Manage Software License by Using Downgrade Rights

Downgrade rights allow the user to downgrade to and use an earlier version.

If you downgrade software using downgrade rights, follow the flow shown below to manage the software license.

The procedure explained below is based on the following example.

Example: Use the downgrade rights provided in the license for software A to downgrade to software B

  1. Enter into a license agreement for software A with the software vendor.

  2. Store the purchased software license agreement in a safe place.

  3. Define the software license in Systemwalker Desktop Patrol. Register software A and software B as a single definition. Refer to "5.2.1 Registration of License definition" for details.

  4. Register license information to manage the software license you defined in step 3. Refer to "5.3.1.1 Register Current License Information" for details. Clearly indicate at this time that you have downgrade rights for the items in Other Conditions.

  5. Allocate a current license to the PC where you downgraded to software B. Refer to "5.3.2 Allocate License" for details on how to allocate a current license. Select software B and allocate the license you registered in step 4.
