The following is a quick summary of the steps to rename a file or folder. We'll use an example where you want to rename a file or folder on the Client's computer.

  1. In the remote file system sub-window, use the mouse or the arrow keys to navigate to the folder or drive containing the items you wish to rename.

  2. In the file list, select the file or folder you want to rename.

  3. Select the Rename menu item from the FILE menu or click the Rename button . Alternatively, using your mouse, you can right-click on the item and select Rename from the popup menu. The label will become editable and you can type the new name for the file or folder.

  4. Type the new name, and then press ENTER. If the name is valid for the current system, the file or folder name will be updated.

    Note

A file or folder name can contain up to 255 characters, including spaces. It cannot contain the following characters: \ / : * ? " < > |

  5. If any confirm options are set, a dialog box is displayed. Otherwise, the file or folder is renamed without confirmation.

Refer to either the section Remote Options or Local Options for more information on these options.
