Here are a few tips to help make screen-sharing sessions more effective.
You can override Live Help's default data transfer techniques to affect performance.
While screen sharing is in progress, Live Help uses compression techniques and data differencing to achieve the best transfer performance possible. However, you can override the default transfer techniques with settings in the Screen Transfer Method dialog box. Refer to the section Screen Transfer Method and Performance Settings in Changing Your Live Help Expert Configuration for more information.
This dialog box also allows you to choose the number of video resolution colors, and whether you want the sender's wallpaper included in the transfer.
Consider getting your screen ready before you start Screen Transfers.
Before you start Screen Transfers of your screen, consider preparing ahead of time. You may even want to do the setup work before you join the session.
For example, if you want to show a particular paragraph in a document or training material, load the application, open the file, move to the appropriate page, then start Screen Transfers. Doing the setup work first saves valuable time during the sessionthe Client won't be interested in watching all the steps you go through just to display the paragraph you want to discuss.
The same is true if you need to open a private document and only want the Client to see a particular pagestop Screen Transfers while you move to the page then start them again when ready.
Either close or minimize confidential data before you start Screen Transfers.
Don't forget that when you start Screen Transfers of your screen, everything that appears on your screen is shown to the other session members.
You may want to temporarily attach your Live Help Expert floating toolbar to the Live Help window to prevent it from being included in the screen transfer. Refer to the section Toolbar in Changing Your Live Help Expert Configuration.
Also, some of the windows on your screen may have confidential data. To avoid showing the information, just remember to close or minimize those windows before you start Screen Transfers.
