2.2 Setting Up Day Change Time

A day change time is the time when the date changes. Although the date generally changes at midnight, Systemwalker Operation Manager allows this to be specified as any arbitrary time. The 24-hour period from the day change time is considered a daily unit.

For example, at a center where batch job processing often spills over to the following day, settings are complicated because services must be scheduled taking the change of date into account for power use and for businesses concerned with such jobs, as well as Windows users. In such cases, pushing back the day change time to make it appear that all batch job processing was completed by the end of the day will make power and job scheduling and service scheduling and monitoring easier.

Use the following procedure to set the day change time.

Procedure

  1. Displaying the Register Day Change Time dialog box

Select SYSTEM_CALENDAR from the Job Selection window of the Systemwalker Operation Manager window. Then, select Day Change Time from the Options menu.

  2. Setting day change time

Set the day change time using the Register Day Change Time dialog box displayed. The day change time specified is applied regardless of whether it is a weekday or a holiday.

Note

  • Power schedule

    • If day change time is changed to be within the already-defined time range of operation, the operation time will be divided by the day change time. This may change the date and the time of power-on or shutdown. Confirm the operation start and end times of each pattern after changing the day change time.

    • If the specified day change time is between the time specified in Work end time if next day is a holiday in the Power Control Pattern dialog box and the time 30 minutes before that, the operation end time becomes invalid. Also, if the specified day change time is between the time - specified in Work start time if previous day was a holiday in the Power Control Pattern dialog box and the time 30 minutes after that, the operation start time becomes invalid.

    • If the day change time is changed beyond the times specified in Work end time if next day is a holiday or Work start time if previous day was a holiday, note that the operation end time when the next day is a holiday or the operation start time when the previous day is a holiday shifts 24 hours. If this will become an operational problem, return the day change time to the original value or change Work end time if next day is a holiday or Work start time if previous day was a holiday according to the operation.

  • Job net schedule

    • If the day change time is changed after the job net is registered, the job nets and groups of all users will be re-scheduled. However, groups that are already executed for the day will not be re-scheduled. In this case, the changed information will be reflected in scheduling from the next day.

    • Changing the day change time may change the scheduled startup day of the job net because of the change in the relationship with the startup time. Confirm the scheduled startup day after changing the day change time.

    • If Execution interval is specified as a execution condition for the job net, do not set the day change time between the start time and the end time. If you do so, the job net may not start up periodically. Confirm the start time and the end time after changing the day change time.
