1.2.3 Automating Operations that Include Tasks Performed by People

In the following example, the task of manually replacing the storage media has been included in the task of backing up data for a business system.

Operation procedure:

1. The following processing is executed before the business service starts.

   1. Check the results of the data backup processing that was performed by an automated operation after the business service stopped the day before.

   2. If the backup processing completed normally, send an email to an operator asking him or her to replace the storage media.

2. The operator performs the following tasks:

   1. Replaces the storage media.

   2. Reports this action in a Systemwalker Runbook Automation window.

3. At business close time, the online stop processing for the business service is performed automatically.

4. The operator checks offline stop and sends a daily report to the Operation Administrator.
