PRIMECLUSTER GLS for Windows User's Guide 4.3

4.1.1 Starting the System

In order to start the GLS system, you must activate virtual adapters. Once activated, virtual adapters are activated automatically each time Windows starts up. However, if you deactivate virtual adapters before shutting down Windows, you must use the strhanet command to activate virtual adapters the next time that you start Windows. Log in as a member of the Administrators group before executing the strhanet command.

The following example shows how to execute the strhanet command and gives a sample result.

> strhanet
FJSVhanet: INFO: 00007: Start the ping monitoring using the hanetpoll command if needed.
FJSVhanet: INFO: 00000: The command ended normally.

For more details on the strhanet command, refer to "6.2.6 strhanet."

Point

  • Once you have activated a virtual adapter, it will be activated automatically each time you start Windows, as long as you do not deactivate it by a command. Therefore, there is usually no need to activate virtual adapters by entering commands.

  • If you have set the ping monitor function, message 00007 is displayed. Start the ping monitor function if necessary. For more details on starting the ping monitor function, refer to "6.2.4 hanetpoll."

  • If you use the adapter setting script to set IP addresses automatically, the script is executed automatically after you execute the strhanet command. For more details, refer to "3.4.5 Follow-up Tasks: IP Address Settings."
