Chapter 5 Status Display Function |
The Initialization Contents Display Function is a function for displaying the initialization contents of the data transfer volumes.
This function is provided by the mftfdvlst command for the UNIX server and the Initialization Contents Display of the Disk Utility for the IA server.
The following discusses the initialization contents display command (mftfdvlst) provided for UNIX server.
mftfdvlst [ target device name | upper directory of the target device ] |
The display initialization contents command displays the initialization contents of the specified data transfer volumes.
target device name | upper directory of the target device
For the target device, specify the character device name of the XL-DATA/MV data transfer volume for which the initialization contents are to be displayed.
If neither the target character device name nor the upper directory of the target character device is specified, a list of character devices of the data transfer volume that can be recognized by the local system and a request reception prompt are displayed.
In this case, the search directory is "/dev/rdsk" for Solaris and HP-UX, and "/dev/raw" for Linux.
However, if using a driver such as MPHD on Solaris, in order to search other than the above mentioned, specify the target directory name for the upper directory name of the target device.
When specifying the upper directory name of the target device, be sure to add "/" to the beginning and end of the target device name.
Example: /dev/FJSVmphd/
When a character device name is specified, the initialization contents of that device are displayed, then the command terminates.
For the character device names here, specify the following:
UNIX Server
For Solaris
Example: | For host-adapter-id=1, target-id=2, and logical unit=3 * The partition that can view the entire logical unit is s2 for Solaris. /dev/rdsk/c1t2d3s2 |
For HP-UX
Example: | For host-adapter-id=1, target-id=2, and logical unit=3 /dev/rdsk/c1t2d3 |
For Linux
Example: | When binding the "/dev/sda" device to "/dev/raw/raw2" with the raw command /dev/raw/raw2 |
Devices are displayed in order of character code.
The following is an example:
01:/dev/raw/raw1
02:/dev/raw/raw11
03:/dev/raw/raw2
:
IA Server
Specify the device by adding the physical disk number (the xx portion of "Diskxx"), which was selected by the Disk Utility, to the end of "PHYSICALDRIVE".
If the physical disk number starts with 0, the 0 must be omitted when specifying the number.
Refer to the following example:
Example: | When the physical disk number is 1 ("DISK01") PHYSICALDRIVE1 |
If neither the target device name nor the upper directory name of the target device is specified, a request reception prompt asks for a device number to be selected from a displayed list of devices, then the initialization contents of the target device number is displayed and the command terminates.
To cancel after the device list is displayed, enter "quit" or "q" at the request reception prompt.
More than one the target device numbers cannot be specified at the same time.
0 is returned when terminating successfully.
-1 is returned for an abnormal termination, and an error message is output to the standard error output.
