9.1 Upgrading the Storage Management Server and the GUI client

This section describes how to upgrade the Storage Management Server and the GUI client.

Refer to "9.2 Upgrading a Storage Management Server which also serves as a Storage Server and the GUI client" for more information.

  1. 9.1.1 Backing up the repository data

    Save the existing repository data to a location outside any ACM directory paths before the upgrade.

  2. 9.1.2 Backing up the license management database of License Manager

    Backup the license management database of ETERNUS SF License Manager.

  3. 9.1.3 Uninstallation

    Delete the repository environment, and uninstall the existing version from the Storage Management Server.

  4. 9.1.4 Installation

    Install the product, and create a new repository environment.

  5. 9.1.5 Restoring the license management database of License Manager

    Restore the license management database that has been backed up.

  6. 9.1.6 Restoring repository data

    Restore the backed-up repository data.

  7. 9.1.7 Version Upgrade of GUI Client

    Upgrade the version of the GUI client.

  8. 9.1.8 Changing server information

    Make the appropriate changes to the server information to ensure data consistency.

Note

Change to the configuration during the upgrade:

If the server name, IP address, or port number of the Storage Management Server needs to be changed during the upgrade, make the change after completing the upgrade.
