For report related files (report information stack file, policy file, etc.) used in the Reporting function, it is recommended to back them up periodically, and restore them in an emergency so as to continue business.
See
Refer to "11.1.1.2 Backup of Manager" and "11.1.1.3 Restoring Manager" for the backup/restore procedure of report-related files.
If an error occurs when running the report information collection command, the report information at that point in time is not stored in the information stack file. For example, if any error occurs on completion of information collection for Disk storage system A, the report information collection command terminates abnormally after the collected information for Disk storage system A has been deleted. If a force-quit is performed by [Ctrl] + [C] on the command side, the processing may be continued. In that case, check the Operation History of ETERNUS SF system.
If any error is found in the report information collection command, correct the cause and then re-execute the command.
If any error is found, the report information collection command notifies it in the following ways:
Command resetting value (The value of 1 or more is returned for abnormal end)
Command output message
ETERNUS SF system Operation History
To set the report information collection command so that it is periodically run, it is necessary to read those values and make sure that no error is occurring.
If any error should occur, a return code and message identifying the cause are returned, so that proper corrective action can be taken.
If an error occurs when running the report creation command, no report is created.
If any error is found in the report creation command, correct the cause and then re-execute the command.
If any error is found, the report creation command notifies it in the following ways:
Command return code (The value of 1 or more is returned for abnormal end)
Command output message
ETERNUS SF system Operation History
To set the report creation command so that it is periodically run, it is necessary monitor the results and make sure that no errors are occurring.
If any error should occur, a return code and message identifying the cause are returned, so that proper corrective action can be taken.
If the ETERNUS SF Manager is stopped while the esfadm report create command (report creation command) is executing, re-executing the esfadm report create command after that may cause the command to terminate with an error. In this case, recover the environment with the following procedure:
Login to the Management Server with the following administrative permissions.
For Windows
User belonging to the Administrators group
For Solaris/Linux
"root" or user belonging to the root group
Move to the following directory.
For Windows
$INS_DIR\Common\var\report
($INS_DIR means "Program Directory" specified at the ETERNUS SF Manager installation.)
For Solaris/Linux
/var/opt/FJSVesfcm/var/report
Delete the retension_period file.
