Describes how to use Amazon CloudWatch to operate your system with the smart workload recovery feature.
If you want to change the frequency at which metrics and logs are collected, or if you want to add or delete logs to monitor, modify CloudWatch Agent configuration file that you created in "A.2.2.10.2 Configuring CloudWatch Agent". Then start CloudWatch Agent with the configuration file. For more information about CloudWatch Agent configuration files, see "Installing the CloudWatch agent" in the "Amazon CloudWatch User Guide".
Perform the following procedure when you want to operate (start or stop) RMS that is monitored, for example, when applying RMS corrections.
You must first create two files as configuration files for the CloudWatch agent.
RMS/log monitoring file
Configuration files with metrics and logs sections
Refer to "A.2.2.10.2 Configuring CloudWatch Agent" for the creation method.
Log monitoring file
Configuration files in the logs section only
When to Stop RMS
Load the configuration file in (b) above and change the setting to log monitoring only.
Stop RMS.
To stop RMS, see "7.1.3 Stopping RMS" in the "PRIMECLUSTER Reliant Monitor Services (RMS) with Wizard Tools Configuration and Administration Guide".
When to Start RMS
Start RMS.
To start RMS, see "7.1.1 Starting RMS" in the "PRIMECLUSTER Reliant Monitor Services (RMS) with Wizard Tools Configuration and Administration Guide".
Load the configuration file in (a) above and change RMS monitoring and log monitoring settings.
Note
Loading a configuration file is the same as starting CloudWatch Agent.
For more information about launching CloudWatch Agent, see "Installing the CloudWatch agent" in the "Amazon CloudWatch User Guide".
If you load CloudWatch Agent configuration file in the following incorrect order, an instance switch occurs.
When you stop RMS with RMS/log monitoring file (a) loaded
When you stop RMS with log monitoring file (b) loaded and then load (a) with it loaded
For issues with installing and operating the CloudWatch Agent, see "Troubleshooting the CloudWatch agent" in the "Amazon CloudWatch User Guide".
