9.1.10 Enable/Disable Extreme Cache and Update Extreme Cache Capacity

Point

The procedure explained in this section applies to storage devices other than the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5/DX900 S5, DX8900 S4 and applies to ETERNUS Disk storage systems that support the Extreme Cache function. To operate Extreme Cache for the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5/DX900 S5, DX8900 S4, refer to "9.1.11 Enable/Disable Extreme Cache and Configure/Release Extreme Cache".

The procedure to enable/disable the Extreme Cache of an ETERNUS Disk storage system and the procedure to update capacity of the Extreme Cache that is installed in an ETERNUS Disk storage system are as follows:

If, though the capacity of Extreme Cache has been increased on the ETERNUS Disk storage system, it is not displayed on Web Console, also take the following steps. At step 6, execute the operation "For Enabling Extreme Cache or Updating Extreme Cache Capacity".

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
    The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the ETERNUS Disk storage system.

  3. On the Category pane, click System.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning the system.

  4. On the Category pane, click Extreme Cache.

  5. On the Action pane, click Configure/Update capacity under Extreme Cache.

  6. Perform the following procedures according to the operation purpose.

    For Enabling Extreme Cache or Updating Extreme Cache Capacity

    Click the Enable/Update capacity radio button.
    In addition, if the storage device selected in step 2 is other than the ETERNUS DX8000 S3 series, specify the Extreme Cache capacity (in units of 100 GB).

    Information

    If the storage device is the ETERNUS DX8000 S3 series, the Extreme Cache capacity specification is not required because the Extreme Cache capacity is set automatically.

    For Disabling Extreme Cache

    Click the Disable radio button.

  7. Click Configure.
