9.1.11 Enable/Disable Extreme Cache and Configure/Release Extreme Cache

Point

The procedure explained in this section applies to the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5/DX900 S5, DX8900 S4. To operate Extreme Cache for an ETERNUS Disk storage system other than the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5/DX900 S5, DX8900 S4, refer to "9.1.10 Enable/Disable Extreme Cache and Update Extreme Cache Capacity".

The procedure to enable/disable the Extreme Cache of an ETERNUS Disk storage system and the procedure to configure/release the Extreme Cache that is added in an ETERNUS Disk storage system are as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
    The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

  3. On the Category pane, click System.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning the system.

  4. On the Category pane, click Extreme Cache.

  5. Perform the following procedures according to the operation purpose.

    For Enabling Extreme Cache or Adding Extreme Cache
    1. On the Action pane, click Setup under Extreme Cache.
      The information input screen is displayed.

    2. Click the Enable radio button and then click Configure.

    For Disabling Extreme Cache
    1. On the Action pane, click Setup under Extreme Cache.
      The information input screen is displayed.

    2. Click the Disable radio button and then click Configure.

    Note

    • For the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5, before disabling Extreme Cache, release it.

    • For the ETERNUS DX900 S5, DX8900 S4, before disabling Extreme Cache, release all the Extreme Cache installed in all the Controller Enclosures.

    For Releasing Extreme Cache (for the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5)

    On the Action pane, click Release under Extreme Cache.

    For Releasing Extreme Cache (for the ETERNUS DX900 S5, DX8900 S4)

    Perform the following procedures to release the Extreme Cache installed in a Particular Controller Enclosure.

    1. On the Action pane, click Release under Extreme Cache.
      The information input screen is displayed.

    2. Check the target Controller Enclosure checkbox and then click Release.
