5.10 Use Information Collection Tool

The Information Collection Tool of Systemwalker Desktop Keeper is a tool that collects necessary data and compresses the data into a file, so that it is convenient to investigate the problems occurred in Systemwalker Desktop Keeper. When the technical staff of Fujitsu reminds you to collect data, it can be done effectively by using this tool.

Use the tools when specified by Fujitsu technician.
The data for investigation that can be collected by this tool are as follows:

The following are three methods for collecting data:

Use the Information Collection Tool in the environment in which Management Server, Log Analyzer Server and Management Console are installed and environment in which Report Output Tool is installed

The data necessary for investigating the occurring problems can be obtained by executing the Information Collection Tool.

The conditions for normal operation of Information Collection Tool are as follows:

The Information Collection Tool can be used as follows:

The following is an example of Log Analyzer Server and the procedure is same as that in case of other components. Information collection tools for each installed component are registered in the Start menu. However, the data collected by any information Collection Tool in a given environment remains the same.

  1. Acquire the performance information (Execute DBPERFORM.BAT) in case of Management Server/Master Management Server.

    Note

According to the environment being used, it is necessary to edit "DBPERFORM.BAT". Open "DBPERFORM.BAT" with a text editor and edit the following contents that are underlined and in bold type.

    rem *********************************************************
rem * Operating Parameter Specification Block *
    rem *********************************************************

rem Describe database name(DTKDB is specified at operation DB and DTKDB2 is specified at log inspection DB)
    set SQLDB=(*1)

rem Describe user ID connecting to database(Manager ID of operation DB is set)
    set SQLuser=(*2)

rem Describe the password corresponding to the user ID connecting to the database
    set SQLpsw=(*3)

    No.

    Editing Content

    Configuration Example

    (*1)

Enter "DTKDB" for investigating operation DB, or enter "DTKDB2" for investigating log inspection DB.

    DTKDB

    (*2)

Enter the user ID (granted with the authority to back up and restore information) registered in the Server Settings Tool.

    BKUSER

    (*3)

Enter the password corresponding to the preceding user ID.

    BKPSW

    • Management Server: %SERVER%\ServerConfigTool (%SERVER% is the installation folder of Management Server.)

Install in the following folder under standard conditions.

      [Windows Server 2008]

      C: \Program Files\Fujitsu\Systemwalker Desktop Keeper\Server

[Windows Server 2008 64-bit Edition, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2016]

  2. Start Start > FJQSS (Information Collection Tool) > information collection (Desktop Keeper Log Analyzer Server).

  3. In the command prompt, press "Y" according to the instructions of the displayed window.
Data collection may take approximately from 3 to 10 minutes.

  4. Once data collection is complete, the path of storage location of data is displayed, Confirm the storage location.(The data is stored under the folder path specified by Environment variable TMP.)

  5. Press Enter and close the command prompt.

  6. The following folder/file is generated under the storage location. It is the information collected by the file with extension "cab". Now send this file. It is not necessary to send any other file.

    File name

    resultYYYYMMDDHHMMSS_1_1.cab
    result.txt
    ez.log

Note) YYYYMMDDHHMMSS is the year, month, day, hour, minute and second when data is collected.

    Example: ezcollect20080618163412

File to be collected with extension "cab" is already compressed. It is not necessary to compress the file further when sending the file.

Files other than that the one mentioned above may exist in the folder before pressing the Enter key in step 5.

Execute the command on Relay Server and Client (CT)

The data necessary for investigating the occurring problems can be collected by executing the command (dtk_qss.exe) that collects the data for investigation.

The conditions for normal operation of the command (dtk_qss.exe) are as follows:

This command can be used as follows.

  1. Open the following folder in Explorer.

    • Relay Server: %SERVER%\ qss(%SERVER% is the installation folder of Relay Server .)

Install in the following folder under standard conditions.

      CrSWDTKSDSV\QSS

    • Client: %CLIENT%(%CLIENT% is the installed folder.)

Install in the following folder under standard conditions.

    Folder Name:

    ezcollectYYYYMMDDHHMMSS

    File Name:

    resultYYYYMMDDHHMMSS_1_1.cab

    result.txt

    ez.log

Note) YYYYMMDDHHMMSS is the year, month, day, hour, minute and second when data collection is performed.

    Example: ezcollect20080618163412

The collected file with the "cab" extension is the file that has been compressed. When sending it, there is no need to compress again.
Before pressing Enter of Step 3, other files apart from the above may exist in the folder.

Execute Remotely for Client (CT) from Management Server

The data collection can be executed through the Management Console when client (CT) is of V13.3.or later.

However, the Citrix Presentation Server monitoring function does not support remote data collection.

The conditions for normal operation of remote data collection are as follows:

Same as the sending of attached information (Set in the Send log of the Terminal Initial Settings window), the data saved on the client (CT) is saved in the folder for saving trouble investigation data (C: \DTK\CTQSSSave in standard) of the Management Server. For the Terminal Initial Settings window, refer to User's Guide for Administrator.

File Name

yyyymmdd-hhmmss- CT's Computer Name.exe (Client version is V14.2.0 or a previous version)

yyyymmdd-hhmmss- CT's Computer Name.cab (Client is V14.3.0 or later)

The procedure is described as follows.

  1. Start Management Console.

  2. From the CT group tree, select the CT group to which the CT for data collection belongs.

  3. Select the CT for data collection from the CT list.

[When executing through the Context menu]
Right-click and select Collect Remote Material.

[When executing through the menu bar]
Select Collect Remote Materials from the File menu.

  4. After the confirmation window is displayed, click the OK button.

After the message for requesting collection of data for trouble investigation is displayed, data collection is started.

  5. Click the OK button.

Note

When remote data collection is not executed

When executing remote data collection, if the re-logon, logoff or shutdown is performed on the client (CT) side, data collection may not be performed.
