This section explains how to register a cloning image to a resource pool.
When an image (template) has been created in advance using VM management software, register it to the image pool using the following procedure:
When a VM host not managed with server management software is used, it is not necessary to register cloning images.
In the ROR console orchestration tree, right-click the target image pool, and select [Register Resources] from the popup menu.
The [Register Resources] dialog is displayed.
Select a cloning image to register.
Click the [OK] button.
The cloning image is registered.
Point
In the following cases, Sysprep is executed and included in the count:
Customizing a guest OS using a template in VMware
Template creation in SCVMM
Refer to "Operation Methods for Cloning Image Collection" in "17.5 Cloning Image Operations" for the operation.
[Citrix Xen]
The virtual image resource acquires information from the pool master of Citrix XenServer registered with this product. When the pool master is not registered, register a pool master as a VM host. After registration, perform registration after waiting for a while.
Note
For images (templates) created in advance using VM management software, change the name of a template as follows to enable Resource Orchestrator to process it:
Delete any characters other than alphanumeric characters and underscores ("_").
Ensure an alphabetic character is used for the first character.
When using an image created beforehand (template), configure the system disk for template using the following settings:
[VMware]
SCSI:0:0
[Hyper-V]
IDE:0:0
[OVM for x86 2.2]
For PVM (Para-Virtualized Machine)
xvda
For HVM (Hardware Virtualized Machine)
hda
[Citrix Xen]
userdevice:0
[OVM for x86 3.x]
Slot 0
When using something other than the above for the system disk, the L-Server creation process that accompanies cloning image deployment may fail.
Note the following points when creating an image (template) with a VM management product.
[Citrix Xen]
Do not use single quotations (') in the image name.
[Hyper-V]
When using Virtual Machine Manager from System Center 2012 or later as VM management software, only templates with an attribute of High Availability can be used. Create a template with an attribute of High Availability when you will use the template.
