Chapter 14 Registering Resources in Resource Pools

This chapter explains how to register a resource managed by Resource Orchestrator to a resource pool.

A resource pool is a type of resource folder displayed on the orchestration tree of ROR console, which stores the resources for selection when creating or adding L-Servers, or performing automatic configuration of network devices.

A resource pool type is specified when creating a resource pool, and only resources of a specific type are stored in each type of resource pool. When installing Resource Orchestrator, one resource pool is created for each resource pool type. For details on operating multiple resource pools, refer to "Chapter 20 Resource Pool Operations".

This section explains how to register resource pool types and resources to a resource pool.

Image pool	Image resources The following two types are available: Virtual image resource An image that is created using a template from VM management software for VM guest creation, or that is collected as a cloning image from an L-Server. Physical image resources An image that uses a cloning image from cloning of a physical server in ROR VE. *1: When using RHEL5-Xen, RHEL-KVM, or Citrix Xen, it is necessary to register MAC addresses.
*2: When collecting cloning images from L-Servers, the images are automatically stored in the image pool.
*3: When managing the virtual IP addresses (public IP addresses) used for address translation functions of firewalls, and automatically allocating them, it is necessary to register global IP addresses.
