This software supports fault management (only for SNMP Trap monitoring) for the Tintri VMstore series.
Point
It is only when the operating system of Management Server is Windows that the Tintri VMstore series can be monitored.
The monitoring of the Tintri VMstore series is available only in an IPv4 environment.
The Tintri VMstore series is monitored using SNMPv3 protocol.
Device Setup Procedure
Connecting to the network
Perform a setup for connecting the Tintri VMstore series to the network. Refer to the Tintri VMstore series manuals for information on how to perform the setup.
SNMP Trap setting
Perform a setup of the SNMP Trap transmission destination for the device so that SNMP Traps of the Tintri VMstore series can be transmitted to the Management Server. If the Management Server is operated on a clustered system, set the logical IP address of the cluster as the destination. Also, set the user so that Authentication is disabled.
Setup Procedure for This Product
Stop Storage Cruiser's manager.
Refer to "13.3.1 Starting and Stopping Services (Windows Environment)" for information on how to stop.
Also, stop the SNMP Trap monitoring service, too.
Create a configuration file for SNMP Trap monitoring service in the following procedure.
Directory | $INS_DIR\ESC\Manager\opt\FJSVssmgr\bin |
File name | MpWksttr.ini |
Description | [EnableInformRequest] |
userName : Specify the user name set to the device in step 2 in "Device Setup Procedure".
Start Storage Cruiser's manager.
Refer to "13.3.1 Starting and Stopping Services (Windows Environment)" for information on how to start.
Also, start the SNMP Trap monitoring service, too.
Create an SNMPv3 user to receive SNMP Traps of the Tintri VMstore series. Use the user name set to the device to create users for accessing MIB and for receiving SNMP Traps. In that case, disable Authentication.
Registering the device
Refer to "Operations for Storage Devices (Other Than ETERNUS Disk Storage System)" in ETERNUS SF Web Console Guide to register the device.
When registering, specify the device IP address and the user name created in step 4.
When Monitoring Devices and Server Nodes Other Than Tintri VMstore Series
When monitoring via SNMPv3 protocol, use the user name set in the configuration file (MpWksttr.ini) for SNMP Trap monitoring service to set up a device and a server node so as to send unauthenticated SNMP Traps.
Note
When monitoring the Tintri VMstore series, the number of users to receive SNMPv3 Traps available on Storage Cruiser's manager is one. In that case, the SNMPv3 Traps receivable on Storage Cruiser's manager are unauthenticated/unencrypted ones alone.
To stop monitoring the Tintri VMstore series and receive authenticated and encrypted SNMPv3 Traps, first remove the device of the Tintri VMstore series registered on this product and the configuration file (MpWksttr.ini) for SNMP Trap monitoring service, and take steps 1 and 3 in "Setup Procedure for This Product".
