10.7.1 Temporary Folder

Specify a folder in which Live Help Expert will save a header file necessary for session recording. It will also save a temporary session data file in this folder. However, it will save the temporary session data file in the folder specified in the Automatic Saving Option field if the Automatic Saving function is enabled.

Session recording function uses the Expert computer's local hard disk to save session data.
You can specify a folder where session data will be temporarily saved in the "Temporary Folder" field. The default temporary folder is the Temp folder of Windows(R).

Note

  • Since session recording requires a large hard disk space, specify a drive with sufficient disk space for saving temporary session data files. If the drive specified in the "Temporary Folder" field or the "Store the saved data into" field doesn't have 10MB of disk space, Live Help Expert/Monitor will not start recording.

  • In the "Temporary Folder" field and the "Store the saved data into" field, you must specify a folder that all users who may use Live Help Expert/Monitor can access.
If a user who cannot access to the folders specified in those fields runs Live Help Expert/Monitor, Live Help will ask the user to re-specify the fields.

The followings are examples of such cases:

    • Example1A user without administrative privileges runs Live Help Expert/Monitor when a folder that only users with administrative privileges can access (for example, My Documents folder of an administrator user) is specified in any of those fields.

    • Example2When a folder on a network drive that only specific users have mapped is specified in any of those fields, a user who hasn't mapped the specified network drive runs Live Help Expert/Monitor.

  • You cannot specify a folder on an unmapped drive (Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path), such as "\\server name\folder," in the Temporary Folder field and the Store the saved data into field.

  • The size of session data varies depending on the resolution and update frequency of the recorded Client's screen. (If Client's screen is a high resolution and often updated, the recording data size will be large.) If you record operations, such as creating a document and editing a spreadsheet on the Client's screen that set to 1024 x 768 x 16bit for 1 minute, the session data size could be larger than 4 Mbytes.

  • If you change the settings for session recording when more than one copy of Live Help Monitor are running, the changes will not take effect on the Live Help Monitor that is connecting to a Live Help Client.
