This product supports fault management for VS850. Refer to "5.2.6 Registering Manually Embedded Device" and register the device.
Network settings
At the VS850, enter the network connection settings to connect to the network. Refer to the manual provided with the VS850 for details.
Cluster Name settings
The Management Server uses the Cluster Name set at the VS850 to specify the device. Therefore, the Cluster Name set at the VS850 must be unique amongst all sites, including remote sites. When registering the VS850 at the Management Server, enter the Cluster Name as the device name.
SNMP Trap setting
Enter settings at the VS850 side in order to send VS850 SNMP Traps to the Management Server. If the Management Server is in a cluster configuration, the logical IP address of the Management Server cluster must be set.
Management software linkage
Use the management software provided for the VS850 to check device status details and to enter settings, including volume virtualization settings. The management software is called directly from the Web Console. As management software, setup the following IP address with the Web Console in advance. svcconsoleip is the IP address of the server where the management software is executed.
Note
The VS850 is handled as a server node by the Management Server. To perform access path operations, treat the VS850 fibre channel port as a server node HBA port.
The VS850 is registered at the Management Server as a cluster unit comprised of VS850 nodes. Set the logical IP address of the cluster containing the VS850 nodes as the IP address to be registered at the Management Server.
If the IP address is not registered during device registration, the device cannot be polled for fault monitoring. Ensure that the IP address is registered.
If the Cluster Name set at the VS850 and the device name registered at the Management Server are different, fault monitoring using SNMP Traps cannot be performed. Ensure that the device name and the Cluster Name are the same.
