10.5.8 Troubleshooting

The following is a description of the corrective action in case an error occurs while the Backup Wizard for SQL Server or the Restore Wizard for SQL Server is running.

10.5.8.1 Corrective Action for Hardware Fault

Use the ETERNUS Web GUI to see that there is no fault found in the restore source and destination volumes.

If any fault is found, collect the information required for troubleshooting and contact Fujitsu Technical Support. For the method to collect the information, refer to "12.2.1 Collecting Troubleshooting Information".

10.5.8.2 Recovery Procedure for Failure in Rollback of Backup Wizard for SQL Server

If running the Backup Wizard for SQL Server failed for any cause, reset the backup done halfway to restore to the state before the Backup Wizard was run. This restore is hereinafter referred to as "Rollback of Backup Wizard".

The following is a description of the recovery procedure used when Rollback of Backup Wizard fails:

Procedure to Determine Whether Rollback of Backup Wizard Failed

If running the Backup Wizard still fails despite having taken corrective actions against all the errors caused when the Backup Wizard for SQL Server was run, it may possibly be attributed to a failure in Rollback of Backup Wizard. Take the following recovery procedure:

Recovery Procedure

  1. Of Management Server, Database Server and Backup server, if any server is not started, start it.

  2. Confirm whether the complete backup execution script, the log backup script, and the configuration removal script of the database subject to operation this time has been created in the following folder of the database server. If these have been created, delete these scripts.

    • Non-cluster operation:
<Program directory when AdvancedCopy Managers agent is installed>\Wizard\bat

    • Cluster operation:
<Shared disk for shared data for AdvancedCopy Manager>:\var\opt\swstorage\Wizard\bat

    Note

If the execution of the previous Backup Wizard terminates normally, the error may be attributed to the correctly created scripts to execute and delete backups. Confirm that the file that is about to be deleted contains the replication group name of when the script was created.

For example, if you change the replication group name to default, to execute the Backup Wizard at 20:49 on 7/29/2014, resulting in failure in the Rollback of Backup Wizard, delete the following files. Do not delete other files than those listed below:

    execute_backup_ApplinkForSQLGroup_20140729204931.bat
    execute_logbackup_ApplinkForSQLGroup_20140729204931.bat
    delete_backup_ApplinkForSQLGroup_20140729204931.bat
  3. As for the database selected by the Backup Wizard, delete the backup definition of AdvancedCopy Manager.

Obtain a definition of volume pair and delete the volume pair definition based on the obtained information.

    1. Obtain Volume Pair Definition

When the database server is of a cluster environment, it is necessary to implement the following procedures and configure the environmental variable SWSTGNODE prior to executing the swsrpvolinfo command.

      1. Execute the following command and display the logical node name of the AdvancedCopy Manager.

        <AdvancedCopy Manager program directory>\bin\stgenvdisp
      2. Execute the following command and configure the logical node name to the environmental variable SWSTGNODE.
The logical node name to be configured is one of the logical node names displayed in step a and is the name of the logical node on which the database selected in the wizard is active.

SET SWSTGNODE=<logicalNodename of the AdvancedCopy Manager>

Execute the following command with the database server and obtain volume pair definitions.

      <AdvancedCopy Manager program directory>\bin\swsrpvolinfo -L

The following is the example of command execution:

      C:\>C:\Win32app\AdvancedCopyManager\bin\swsrpvolinfo -L
Server Original-Volume Size Replica-Volume Size Copy Op-Server Group
      E14EMB01WR2DE64 g1d102p1@E14EMB01WR2DE64 1021.0 Mbyte g1d217p1@E14BKS01WR2DE64 1021.0 Mbyte bi-direction original ApplinkForSQLGroup_20130927153045
      E14EMB01WR2DE64 g1d199p1@E14EMB01WR2DE64 1021.0 Mbyte g1d218p1@E14BKS01WR2DE64 1021.0 Mbyte bi-direction original ----

      C:\>

Of the pairs displayed in the above, extract the volume pair in which the group name matches the replication group name specified upon execution of the backup wizard and perform Delete Volume Pair Definition.

In the above command execution example, g1d102p1@E14EMB01WR2DE64 is backup source volumes and g1d217p1@E14BKS01WR2DE64 is backup destination volumes.

    2. Delete Volume Pair Definition

Execute the following command on the database server:

<AdvancedCopy Manager program directory>\bin\swsrpdelvol backupSrcVol backupDstVol

For backupSrcVol and backupDstVolume, specify the volume pair obtained in the step Obtain Volume Pair Definition. The following is the example of command execution:

      C:\>C:\Win32app\AdvancedCopyManager\bin\swsrpdelvol g1d102p1@E14EMB01WR2DE64 g1d217p1@E14BKS01WR2DE64
      swsrpdelvol completed

      C:\>
