1.3.3 System configuration that includes mixed IPv4/IPv6 environments

For its communications environment, Systemwalker Runbook Automation can operate in IPv4 and IPv6, as well as mixed IPv4 and IPv6 environments.

The following diagram shows the connections in a mixed environment system configuration.

Environments in which Systemwalker Runbook Automation can operate

Systemwalker Runbook Automation can operate in the following environments:

  • IPv4 single-stack environment

  • IPv6 single-stack environment

  • IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack environment

Note that IPv6 single-stack environments are not supported by the Management Server. If you use Systemwalker Runbook Automation in an IPv6 environment, operate a Management Server in an IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack environment.

IPv4/IPv6 address selection

In an IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack environment, Systemwalker Runbook Automation determines the address to be used according to the settings of the operating system.

However, when the collected configuration information is to be used, Systemwalker Runbook Automation determines the address to be used according to the settings of definition file as a priority (By default, priority is given to used IPv4 addresses).

IPv6 addresses that can be used

The following addresses can be used in Systemwalker Runbook Automation:

  • Global unicast addresses

  • Unique local unicast addresses
