This section describes how to activate and deactivate virtual adapters.
If you deactivate virtual adapters for any reason, you must reactivate them by executing the strhanet command. Log in as a member of the Administrators group before executing the strhanet command.
The following example shows how to execute the strhanet command and gives a sample result.
> strhanet FJSVhanet: INFO: 00007: Start the ping monitoring using the hanetpoll command if needed. FJSVhanet: INFO: 00000: The command ended normally. |
For more details on the strhanet command, refer to "6.2.6 strhanet."
Point
Once you have activated a virtual adapter, as long as you do not deactivate it by a GLS command or a function of the operating system, it is automatically activated whenever you start Windows. However, as activation and deactivation of virtual adapters by OS functions are not supported, there is no guarantee for GLS to operate properly after using OS functions.
If you have set the ping monitor function, message 00007 is displayed. For more details on starting the ping monitor function, refer to "5.3.3 Starting and Stopping the Ping Monitor Function." Make sure that IP addresses have been set for all virtual adapters before you start ping monitoring. If you start the ping monitor function and no IP address is set for one or more virtual adapters, the system may assume that an error has occurred and switch physical adapters.
If you use the adapter setting script to set IP addresses automatically, the script is executed automatically after you execute the strhanet command.
If you want to change virtual adapter settings or restore a virtual adapter settings file, you must first deactivate GLS virtual adapters.
Execute the stphanet command to deactivate virtual adapters. Log in as a member of the Administrators group before executing the stphanet command.
Note
If you deactivate a virtual adapter by executing stphanet command, the virtual adapter will be deleted together with the information that is set to the virtual adapter. To reactivate the virtual adapter, you need to set the virtual adapter again.
When you deactivate a virtual adapter, communications from higher level applications using the IP address set in that virtual adapter may be ended. For this reason, if necessary, close all such higher level applications before deactivating virtual adapters. If a virtual adapter is set for higher level applications, delete the virtual adapter.
When you deactivate a virtual adapter by executing the stphanet command, it remains deactivated even when you restart Windows. Execute the strhanet command to activate deactivated virtual adapters.
The following example shows how to execute the stphanet command and gives a sample result.
> stphanet FJSVhanet: INFO: 00005: The ping monitoring stopped. FJSVhanet: INFO: 00000: The command ended normally. |
For more details on the stphanet command, refer to "6.2.7 stphanet."
Information
When you execute the stphanet command, the ping monitor function stops and message 00005 is displayed.
