Chapter 2 : Setting the Operating Environment | > 2.6 Environment Settings on the Server System | > 2.6.1 UNIX/IA Server Environment Settings |
Registering the data transfer user is required for performing data transfers by the XL-DATA/MV.
The XL-DATA/MV uses the account authority of the UNIX server to send data.
Create the user registration file called ".mftf" under the home directory of that account using the following procedures:[Syntax]
0 256 bytes
user name umask
- Up to 256 bytes can be specified per line.
- Use spaces or tabs between the user name and umask.
- Umask requires a three-digit octal value: however, leading zeros may be omitted (i.e., "027"="27").
- The default value for umask is "133". Permission is required to use the filter command for creating directories.
- The following is an example:
![]()
[For UNIX/IA Server Client Systems]
Specify the user name and umask.
Specify the user name as defined in the system and used for executing the Transfer Command in the client system. This is case sensitive. The user name does not have to be registered as the server system account.
[Avoiding User Verification]
XL-DATA/MV allows user verification to be avoided via the settings of the UNIX/IA server system.
To avoid user verification, specify "XLDATAMOVER" as the user name of the user registration file.
- The following is an example of avoiding user verification.
![]()
- The following is an example using umask to avoid user verification.
- When using the settings as shown in the following example, user verification avoidance is functional after the "XLDATAMOVER" only.
![]()
Create the user registration file called "mftf.ini" under the directory, where the XL-DATA/MV is installed, using the following procedures:
For example, if the XL-DATA/MV is installed in the "C:$Program Files$Datamover" folder, create the file "C:$Program Files$Datamover$mftf.ini". (Note: "$" means a backslash.)[Syntax]
0 256 bytes
user name
- Up to 256 bytes can be specified per line.
- The following is an example:
![]()
[For UNIX Server Client Systems]
Specify the user name.
Specify the user name as defined in the system and used for executing the Transfer Command in the client system. This is case sensitive. The user name does not have to be registered as a Windows account.
[Avoiding User Verification]
XL-DATA/MV allows user verification to be avoided via the settings of the UNIX/IA server system.
To avoid user verification, specify "XLDATAMOVER" as the user name of the user registration file.
The following is an example of avoiding user verification.
![]()
Since the .mftf file (mftf.ini for Windows) is used for the purpose of user verification, appropriately set the permission of the file and of the home directory storing the file to protect them from being deleted or edited.
When changing the .mftf file (or mftf.ini file for Windows):
As long as the data transfer is not in progress, the file can be changed. Changes take effect when the modified file is saved. Currently running daemons or services do not have to be restarted.
