B.1 Driver Messages

This section describes driver messages and explains what to do in response to the messages.

 

Message output and viewing

Driver messages are output to the Windows event log.

The event log can be viewed in Windows Event Viewer.

To open Event Viewer, select [start]-[Control Panel]-[Administrative Tools]-[Event Viewer].

 

Variable description

Italic texts in the messages denote variables and vary depending on the situations where the messages are output. The following table shows variables and the descriptions.

Severity

Driver messages are categorized into the following three types listed from higher to lower severity.

20XXX

ERROR

This type of message is output when an event that causes the system to pause was detected.

22XXX

WARNING

This type of message is output to give warning when an error that does not cause the system to pause was detected.

24XXX

INFO

This type of message is output to track driver activities.
