Chapter 1 Overview of Troubleshooting

1.2 Detecting Errors and Assessing the Impact on Operations

If an error occurs with any of the Shunsaku processes (conductor, directors, searchers, or sorters) during operations, a message that a Shunsaku error has occurred is output to the system log (syslog) or event log on the server where the faulty process is located.

Depending on the error, operations may not be able to continue. The following table shows the impact of different errors on operations:

Message ID

Cause

Degree of impact on operations

Impact on active applications

Connection

Transaction

shn06000u
shn06002u

The conductor has not terminated correctly.

Applications cannot connect to Shunsaku until Shunsaku is restored

Disconnected

-

shn02003u
shn02012u
shn30302u

A director has not terminated correctly.

Searches and updates cannot be performed on Shunsaku until the director is restored.

-

Cancelled

shn02000e

An error has occurred with communication processing for searchers.

Degradation of failover will start automatically, and operations can recommence on completion. Note, however, that if degradation has occurred, it will not be possible to achieve the same level of performance as before the error.

-

Cancelled

shn07015u
