Chapter 2 Installation of Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager

This chapter explains how to install the Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager.

To install the Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager in the Tape Server, the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager needs to have been installed beforehand in that Tape Server.
For details of the procedure, see "Installation of Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager" or "Installation of Agent of AdvancedCopy Manager" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Installation Guide" for the operating system of the target Storage Server and Storage Management Server.

2.1 Items to check before Installation

2.1.1.1 System Environmen t at Installation Destination

The Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager can only be installed under any one of the following Solaris (TM) Operating Systems listed below. Any other system environment is not supported.

Solaris (TM) 8 Operating System
Solaris (TM) 9 Operating System

A system environment where the Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager can be installed does not cover all of those where the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager can be installed. Be careful in selecting the system environment where the Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.

2.1.1.2 Exclusive Softwar e

AdvancedCopy Manager cannot coexist with the following software.

SystemWalker/StorageMGR-M
SystemWalker/StorageMGR-A
Softek Backup TSM Edition 5.3, and its previous versions

When the Tape Manager is installed on the Storage Management Server or the Storage Server, and the Storage Management Server or the Storage Server and the Tape Server is used combinedly, the Tape Manager and the manager or the agent of AdvancedCopy Manager should assume the same version.

2.1.1.3 Essential Softwar e

The following software is required. Confirm that the software has been installed.

GRMPD 1.0.5 (912651-11 or later)

2.1.2 Hardware Environment

To use this software product, the following hardware is required.

2.1.2.1 Memory

At least 256 megabytes is required.

2.1.2.2 Essential Hardwar e

The following I/O devices are required.

ETERNUS LT130 tape library system, ETERNUS LT160 tape library system, ETERNUS LT220 tape library system, ETERNUS LT270 tape library system	Any one is required.

2.1.3 Static Disk Resources

The following sub-section describes the static disk space required for this software product.

2.1.3.1 Disk Space Requirement

The following table lists the amount of disk space required to install the Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager. If necessary, expand the size of the file system.

The following disk spaces do not include the disk space for the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager to be installed on the same machine. If the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed on the same machine, estimate its disk space separately.

"$DIR1" is the program directory name to be specified when the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.
"$DIR2" is the environment setup directory name to be specified when the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.
"$DIR3" is the variable data directory name to be specified when the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.

2.1.4 Dynamic Disk Resources

The following sub-section describes the dynamic disk space required for this software product.

2.1.4.1 Disk Space Requirement

The table below lists disk space requirements required for different uses of the product. These requirements are, in addition, to the disk space requirements described in "Static Disk Resources". If the free space is insufficient, extend the size of the file system.

The following disk spaces do not include the disk space for the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager to be installed on the same machine. If the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed on the same machine, estimate its disk space separately.

"$DIR2" is the environment setup directory name to be specified when the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.
"$DIR3" is the variable data directory name to be specified when the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed.
"$DIR4" is the database directory name of the ETERNUS SF TSM Normally use "/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin". For details of the uses, see "TSM Setting (to be done before Setting of Automatic Activation of Daemons".
n: Number of backups for one transaction volume. Add the number of backups for generation management and that for day management.
m: Number of transaction volumes to execute the tape backup operation.
o: Sum of counts of backup, restoration, and copy to tape to be simultaneously performed.
The logical units used as access paths are indicated by the number of logical units, not the disk space. The logical unit can be of any size, but must be referenced as a partition (device) from the Tape Server.

2.1.5 Memory Requirements

To operate this software under the following conditions, the amount of memory space listed in the following table is required.

The following memory requirements do not include those of the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager to be installed on the same machine. If the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed on the same machine, estimate its memory requirements separately.

2.1.6 Swap Space Requirements

To operate this software under the following conditions, the swap space listed in the following table is required. If the requirements exceed the provided swap area, expand it.

The following swap space requirements do not include those of the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager to be installed on the same machine. If the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed on the same machine, estimate its swap space requirements separately.

2.1.7 Checking that Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager is installed

To install the Tape Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager, the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager must be installed in advance.
For details of the procedure, see "Installation of Manager of ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager" or "Installation of Agent of AdvancedCopy Manager" in the "ETERNUS SF AdvancedCopy Manager Installation Guide" of the target operating system.

2.2 Installation

The Tape Manager has the following configuration.

Component	Explanation
Basic part of Tape Manager	Manages tape backup as AdvancedCopy Manager.
TSM part of Tape Manager	Controls a tape library system to manage tape data. It includes both client and server of ETERNUS SF TSM.

All of the above components are installed with the tbosetup command.

2.2.1 Preparation Prior to Installation

2.2.1.1 Checking the System Environment

Check whether the disk has a free space large enough to install this software.

For details of the disk size used by this software, see "Static Disk Resources". If there is not enough space, set the disk partition configuration again.

2.2.2 Software Installatio n

Activate the system in single user mode.

[ok prompt] boot -s <Return>

Input the above command at the ok prompt.

Type Ctrl-d to proceed with normal startup.
(or give root password for system maintenance): superuser password <Return>

Mount the local file system.
# /usr/sbin/mountall -l <Return>
Activate the volume-manager, and then mount the CD-ROM(Tape Manager Program DISC3) for this software product.
# /etc/init.d/volmgt start <Return>
Execute the installation command (tbosetup) for this software. Multiple packages are installed at one time.
# cd CD-ROM mount-point/tape-mgr/solaris <Return> # ./tbosetup <Return>

The install directory category type and the initial value of the install directory name are displayed, and a confirmation message asking whether to continue the installation is displayed. To change the information, input "y"; otherwise, input "n" or press the Return key.

# ./tbosetup

When you input "y" in step 6, specify the install directory category type and the install directory name. Perform this procedure only after each installation destination directory is changed by the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager.

Please specify fixed configuration directory: (default: /etc/opt) [?,q] /etc/opt

Please specify variable configuration directory: (default: /var/opt) [?,q] /var/opt

Be sure to specify each installation destination directory that is specified before by the Agent or Manager of AdvancedCopy Manager.

To confirm the message, input "n" or press the Return key. To make any other changes, input "y".

Installation settings for this setup are as follows:
        Program install directory         : /opt
        Fixed configuration directory     : /etc/opt
        Modifying configuration directory : /var/opt

To confirm the final message and start the installation, input "y". To cancel the installation, input "n".

This package contains scripts which will be executed with super-user
permission during the process of installing this package.

Installation begins. An example of the display is shown below.

When the installation terminates normally, the system outputs the following message.
tbosetup: AdvancedCopy Manager Tape Backup Server was installed successfully.
When the IBM tape drive device such as ETERNUS LT160 is used, install the IBMtape driver.
# cd /opt/tivoli/tsm/server <Return> # pkgadd -d IBMtape.4.1.1.4.bin <Return>
Execute the following commands, and then remove the CD-ROM from the drive.
# cd / <Return> # eject cdrom

Reboot the system

# /usr/sbin/shutdown -y -i6 -g0 <Return>
