9.1.2 esfast autotier start (Automated Storage Tiering Start Command)

NAME

esfast autotier start - Start Automated Storage Tiering

SYNOPSIS

esfast autotier start -name tierPoolName

COMMAND PATH

For Windows environments

$INS_DIR\AST\Manager\opt\FJSVssast\sbin\esfast autotier start
```
($INS_DIR is the "Program directory" of when ETERNUS SF Manager has been installed to a new environment.)

For Solaris or Linux environments

/opt/FJSVssast/sbin/esfast autotier start

DESCRIPTION

Start Automated Storage Tiering for the Tier pool. In order to execute the command, the administrator privilege of the OS is required.

OPERAND

OPTIONS

-name tierPoolName: Specify the Tier pool name for which to start Automated Storage Tiering.
Specify a maximum of 16 characters containing one-byte alphanumeric characters, number sign (#), hyphen (-) and underscore (_) for the name.
Non-case sensitive.
Specify the Tier pool name that has been created on Web Console.

EXIT STATUS

=0: Completed successfully
>0: Terminated abnormally

For Windows environments

For Solaris or Linux environments

NOTES

If the Tier pool for which to start Automated Storage Tiering is a two layer or three layer Tier pool, before executing this command, register the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Optimization Option license.
If not, the command terminates abnormally.
Refer to "8.5 Check of Start of ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Optimization Option Service/Daemon" to make sure that the service or daemon is started.
If not, the command terminates abnormally.
If this command is executed to the Tier pool for which Automated Storage Tiering has been started, it terminates abnormally.
If the Tier pool is a two or three layers Tier pool, make sure that the Tiering policy is defined. If not, the command terminates abnormally.
If this command is executed for Tier pools that are performing a Tier pool balancing, the command terminates abnormally.
If this command is executed for Tier pools that are deleting a RAID group, the command terminates abnormally.
