6.5.3 Configure FTV

Only FTVs can be created in a one layer Tier pool.
Configuration of FTV is performed with Web Console. This cannot be performed with ETERNUS Web GUI.

Note

Implement the changing / deletion / formatting of an FTV after updating the administration information of the FTV.

In order to update the administration information of an FTV, in relation to the ETERNUS Disk storage system of which the IP address thereof has been changed, perform the procedures listed under "Reload ETERNUS Disk Storage System Configuration Information" in the Web Console Guide.

6.5.3.1 Create FTV

Create an FTV.

Refer to "Creation of FTV" in the Storage Cruiser Operation Guide for Optimization Function for the items that can be specified to FTV.

Refer to "Create FTV" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to create an FTV.

6.5.3.2 Change FTV

The definition of an FTV is changeable.

Refer to "Change FTV" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to change it.

Point

  • The current details of the definition of an FTV can be confirmed by following the procedures listed under "Display FTV" in the Web Console Guide.

  • It is not possible to change the definition of multiple FTVs at once.

6.5.3.3 Format FTV

Refer to "Format FTV" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to format an FTV.
Furthermore, as an FTV is automatically formatted when being created, it is unnecessary to format a newly created FTV.

Point

  • It is not possible to format multiple FTVs at once.

  • Virtual Volumes cannot be formatted.

6.5.3.4 Delete FTV

Before operating the deletion, display the detailed information of the FTV that you are about to delete and confirm that deleting this is not a problem. Refer to "Display FTV" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to display the detailed information of an FTV.

Refer to "Delete FTV" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to perform the deletion.

Point

  • Multiple FTVs can be deleted at once.

  • An FTV that is currently assigned to a server cannot be deleted.

  • Virtual Volumes cannot be deleted.
    As an exception, Virtual Volumes with an "Unknown" VVOL type can be deleted. When deleting multiple Virtual Volumes, each one must be deleted individually since a batch delete is not possible.
