6.1.8 Extreme Cache Management

With this product, a storage device's Extreme Cache can be managed. Tasks can be performed with the same operability without having to be conscious of limitations due to the type or model of the storage device.

Operations regarding Extreme Cache can be executed to a storage device or volume. This section explains the operations in relation to a storage device. Refer to "6.1.2 Volume Management" for information on operations in relation to a volume.

Select the target storage device with Web Console, and select the operation from the Action pane.

The operations that can be executed are as follows:

Point

  • The Extreme Cache size can be configured only if the target device is an ETERNUS DX500 S4/DX600 S4, DX500 S3/DX600 S3.

  • Extreme Cache can be released only if the target device is an ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5/DX900 S5, DX8900 S4.

Note

In order to utilize the Extreme Cache function, it is required that configuration for the storage device is enabled.

When the configuration for the storage device is disabled, the Extreme Cache function cannot be utilized, regardless of the enabled / disabled configurations of each volume.
