To make this product's managed device, it is necessary to register a device which has already been detected using Web Console.
User name and password
To manage the device, this software must recognize the user name and password associated with the device. Since each device requires different information, the items displayed in the dialog change accordingly.
Devices | Required Information |
---|---|
Brocade Fibre Channel switch | User name and password with administrator privileges |
ETERNUS DX series (excluding the ETERNUS DX60 S2) | User name and password of Software roll |
ETERNUS DX60 S2 | User name and password with administrator privileges |
Check box of "Enable fault monitoring via SNMP Traps on this device"
When a device using SNMPv1 is registered, this software automatically sets the SNMP Trap destination address for the device so that it can monitor for faults using SNMP Traps. Refer to "1.1 Support Levels" for information about the device types for which the address automatic setting function can be used.
Information
Refer to "5.2.5 Function for Setting Event Notification Destinations" for information about fault monitoring required for a registered device after the function is disabled. Refer to "5.2.6 SNMP Trap Transmission Place Automatic Setting Function" for a detailed explanation of the automatic setup.
The check box of "Enable fault monitoring via SNMP Traps on this device" is invalid for the device which does not support the SNMP Trap destination address automatic setting function.
To update the device component status automatically, you must enable the SNMP Trap destination address automatic setting function. For devices that support automatic updates of the device component status, refer to "2.5 Monitoring Device Component Status".
Note
When registering users with a security level other than an administrator level on the switch, remove the check here.
When requesting fault monitoring with this product, log in to the device and configure the destination of the SNMP Trap so that the SNMP Trap can be sent from the Management Server. For details on the configuration, refer to the manual attached to the device.
Item | Configuration Details |
---|---|
SNMP Trap destination | Management Server IP Address |
SNMP Community name | public |
SNMP version | 1 |
Port number | 162 |
Level | Warning |
Checkbox for enabling the zoning setting
When a fibre channel switch device is registered, this software sets up the device such that zoning setup can be done. Select this option if performing setup of the access path from this software. If you do not select this option, operations start as is (i.e. with no security) for the fibre channel switch device which had no zoning setup performed (meaning this switch is in a No Security status).
Note
When registering users with a security level other than an administrator level on the switch, remove the check here.
Note
If a device to be managed cannot be accessed, it cannot be registered.
The devices in the following status could not be registered. It is recommended to log out and then register them.
For the Fibre Channel switch
SSH is used to log in to a target device.
Action: Log out, and then perform the registration process.
For the ETERNUS DX series, ETERNUS AF All-Flash Arrays, and ETERNUS DX200F
User is logged into the target device's ETERNUS Web GUI.
Action: Log out, and then perform the registration process.
During the device registration process, if the VDX series and PRIMERGY BX Ethernet Fabric Switch have already been manually registered, be sure to delete the manually registered devices first and then perform registration. If registration is performed when manually registered devices remain registered, no information can be obtained from the Fibre Channel switch. In this case, delete target manually registered devices.
