8.2.5 In Case of Problem During Upgrade of AdvancedCopy Manager's Agent (for Windows)

The system can be recovered to the same status as Upgrade Installation completed normally.

For the server on which Upgrade Installation failed, perform the following actions.

For cluster environments, take the following procedure for the node on which Upgrade Installation failed, which is not necessary for the node on which Upgrade Installation succeeded.

Point

  • If Storage Cruiser's agent is installed, recheck the following matter before taking the action:

    • Storage Cruiser's agent services are stopped.
      If not, refer to "Starting and Stopping Agent" in the Storage Cruiser Operation Guide to stop the services.

  • For non-cluster environments, recheck the following matters before performing the actions:

    • The user should be with Administrator privileges.

  • For cluster environments, in addition to non-cluster environments, recheck the following matters before performing the actions:

    • On all the nodes for which Upgrade Installation is done, the Managed Server transactions should be stopped.

    • On the primary node for which Upgrade Installation is done, the shared disk for shared data of Managed Server transactions should be mounted.

  1. Resolve any problems of installation failure.

  2. Log on to the server using Administrator privileges.
    If already logged on as the Administrator privileges, this step is unnecessary.

  3. Uninstall the previous version.

    If the previous version cannot be uninstalled, force delete AdvancedCopy Manager's agent with the following steps:

    1. Stop AdvancedCopy Manager COM Service's services

      > sc stop "AdvancedCopy COM"
    2. Delete AdvancedCopy Manager COM Service's services

      > sc delete "AdvancedCopy COM"
    3. Delete registry

      Delete AdvancedCopy Manager's agent associated registry.
      If no appropriate registry exists, this process is not necessary.

      Note

      If deleting the registry fails, a critical impact may be given to the system. It is recommended that you back up the registry beforehand.

      Delete the following registries by Registry Editor:

      • When the AdvancedCopy Manager's agent is a 32 bit version on 32 bit operating system

    4. Delete AdvancedCopy Manager installed directories.

      Delete the program directory, environment configuration directory and working directory when AdvancedCopy Manager's agent was installed.

      The command example of a default installation directory is as follows. Execute the command to delete the directory:

      > rd /s /q C:\Win32app\AdvancedCopyManager

      When custom installation was used, delete the directories specified during installation.

  4. Newly install this version of the AdvancedCopy Manager's agent from the DVD media.

    However, on completion of installation, the AdvancedCopy Manager's agent setup is unnecessary.

  5. Restore the environment in which the previous version was used.

    Take the following procedure to restore the previous version:

    1. Insert the DVD "ETERNUS SF SC/ACM/Express Mediapack (V16.9 or higher) Agent Program and Manual" of this version into the DVD drive.
      If already inserted, this step is unnecessary.

    2. Execute the following batch file in the DVD media to restore the previous version.

      • When the AdvancedCopy Manager's agent is a 32 bit version

        <dvdDrive>:\Agent_windows\AdvancedCopy_Manager\agent\windows_x86\esfacmapostinst.bat backupDir
      • When the AdvancedCopy Manager's agent is a 64 bit version

        <dvdDrive>:\Agent_windows\AdvancedCopy_Manager\agent\windows_x64\esfacmapostinst.bat backupDir

      For backupDir, specify the directory in which backup data is stored with the absolute path.

      Point

      If the directory name contains any spaces, it is surrounded by double quote characters.

    3. Eject the DVD media.

This is the end of the actions in case of problem during upgrade.
Subsequently, perform the post-Upgrade Installation work. Perform the following actions:
