ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser V16.9 Operation Guide
FUJITSU Storage

7.1.1 Performance Information Types

The following information can be managed: Performance monitoring can be set at different intervals, refer to "7.2.3 Setting Monitoring Intervals" for the settings available for each device.

Note

  • Do not simultaneously perform performance monitoring to a single device from multiple Management Server (administrative servers). The administrative server for Softek Storage Cruiser, the Management Server for ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser, and the administrative server for Systemwalker Resource Coordinator are to be used for the performance monitoring.

  • In order to prevent a discrepancy with the times shown on the performance graph due to a discrepancy in the internal clocks for the Management Server and the monitored device, it is recommended that you enable the NTP setting to the Management Server and the monitored device to synchronize the internal clocks.

  • It is possible to reference performance information for Storage Cruiser. However, there is some performance information which is not supported. Refer to the manual of Systemwalker Service Quality Coordinator for details.

  • If the monitored device has been restarted while performance monitoring was in progress, you may be unable to acquire accurate performance data immediately after the restarting of the device. It is recommended that you first halt performance monitoring before performing any tasks which entail restarting the monitored device.

  • Performance information about the ETERNUS Disk storage system main frame volume, MVV/SDV, and ODX Buffer Volume are not supported. The value for the performance information about the RAID Group containing SDV cannot be guaranteed. Performance information values for RAIDGroup, excluding Thin Provisioning and Flexible Tier, do not contain ODX Buffer Volume.

  • Performance information of SAS ports and NAS ports, which are ETERNUS Disk storage system host interfaces, is not supported.

  • Performance monitoring cannot be done for the ETERNUS Disk storage system which do not have LogicalVolume (LUN).

  • Because the performance information for VE ports that are used for the FCIP function is not supported, the values of the displayed performance information are not guaranteed. It is recommended that 0 is set for the transfer rate of the VE ports that are used for the FCIP function to prevent a performance monitoring or a threshold monitoring. Refer to "A.9 Explanation of Configuration Settings File" for information on how to set the transfer rate.

  • The CPU and ROE usage rates are displayed for the CM load (CPU usage) for the ETERNUS DX400 S2 series, DX8000 S2 series. For other ETERNUS Disk storage systems, the ROE usage rate is not displayed. Also, for ETERNUS Disk storage systems that do not have a ROE, the parity generation processing for RAID5, RAID6 and RAID6-FR, and encryption processing that would otherwise be performed by the ROE are performed by the CM and the CM-CPU.

  • RDB performance information cannot be displayed in environments that use the REC Disk Buffered Consistency function.
