6.1.9 Encryption Mode Management

With this product, a storage device's encryption mode can be managed. Tasks can be performed with the same operability without having to be conscious of limitations due to the type or model of the storage device.

Operations regarding encryption mode can be executed to a storage device, Tier pool, or volume. This section explains the operations in relation to a storage device.

Refer to "Creation of Tier Pool" in the Storage Cruiser Operation Guide for Optimization Function for information on operations in relation to a Tier pool. Refer to "6.1.2 Volume Management" for information on operations in relation to a volume.

Select the target storage device with Web Console, and select the operation from the Action pane.

The operations that can be executed are as follows:

Point

When the storage device supports the encryption mode AES-256, you can select the following encryption modes when operating to enable or change the encryption:

  • Fujitsu Original Encryption

  • AES-128

  • AES-256

When the storage device does not support the encryption mode AES-256, Fujitsu Original Encryption is set when operating to enable the encryption. You cannot change to other encryption mode than Fujitsu Original Encryption.

Note

  • In order to utilize the encryption mode function, it is required that configuration for the storage device is enabled.

    When the configuration for the storage device is disabled, the encryption mode function cannot be utilized, regardless of the enabled / disabled configurations of Tier pool or each volume.

  • For the ETERNUS DX60 S2, management of encrypted volumes and configuration of the encryption mode cannot be performed with this product.
