This product can monitor the status of components in managed devices.
The methods for acquiring the device component status from the device varies depending on the device. This product can acquire the device component status automatically for the following devices.

For devices other than the ones listed above, you must acquire the device component status manually. To acquire the device component status manually, perform the Reload Conf. operation with Web Console.
Configuration for Automatically Acquiring Device Component Status
To acquire the device component status from the devices in "Table 2.1 Storage Devices Supporting Automatic Acquisition of Device Component Status", perform one of the following settings:
Setting during the device registration
When using SNMPv1, enable SNMP Trap Settings.
When using SNMPv3, manually specify the Management Server IP address for the SNMP Trap destination address on the device side.
Setting after the device registration
When using SNMPv1, enable SNMP Trap Settings by using the event notification destination setting function.
When using SNMPv3, manually specify the Management Server IP address for the SNMP Trap destination address on the device side.
Point
If the above settings are performed, the SNMP Trap event notifications of the device is automatically changed from OFF to ON. The items of the SNMP Trap event notifications that are automatically changed are as follows:
Remote Path Error of no Data Transfer
Recovery module
Temperature restoration
FC CA Port Link Status Changed
iSCSI CA Port Link Status Changed
Remote Path Recovery
In the device, the Item that changed to OFF among the items with a default value of ON
When the device is removed from this product, the SNMP Trap event notifications are returned to the default value of the device.
However, if the SNMP Trap event notifications are changed on the device side after being changed automatically by this product, it does not return to the default value even if the device is removed from this product. Make sure there is nothing wrong with the SNMP Trap event notification setting on the device side.
Triggers for Automatically Acquiring Device Component Status
This product acquires the device component status automatically for the following cases:
If SNMP Traps are received when a device component fails and when recovering from that failure.
If a change of the device status is detected due to a device polling.
If the link status of the ports is changed.
The link status of the FC ports and the iSCSI ports is updated when an SNMP Trap is received.
The link status of the SAS ports and the FCoE ports is updated every 10 minutes.
If the device component status is changed when the SNMP Traps cannot be received or a device polling cannot be performed because of a network error or because ETERNUS SF Manager is being stopped, the component status that is displayed in Web Console may not have been updated. In this case, perform the Reload Conf. operation with Web Console for the device whose component status was changed to update to the latest information.
To update the information of Automated Storage Tiering to the latest status, perform the Status Update operation for Automated Storage Tiering. Refer to "Update Automated Storage Tiering Information" in the Web Console Guide for information on how to perform the Status Update operation.
