11.3.3 Operations for Backup Management Function

11.3.3.1 Enable Backup Management

The procedure to set a server as the server that can use the backup management function of AdvancedCopy Manager is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Action pane, click Enable under Backup Management.

11.3.3.2 Set As Transaction Volume or Backup Volume

The procedure to set the device connected with a server as transaction volume or backup volume is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Action pane, click Set As Transaction Volume or Set As Backup Volume under Device Types.
    The information confirmation screen is displayed.

  6. Confirm the information, and then click Set.

Point

The device that can be set as a transaction volume or backup volume of AdvancedCopy Manager is a device that satisfies the following conditions:

  • "Unassigned" is displayed in the Device Type column on the Backup Operation overview screen (displayed by performing the above step 4).

  • "No" is displayed in the In Use by Replication column.

11.3.3.3 Display Transaction Volume

The procedure to display transaction volumes is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.
    The devices are displayed on the Main pane. The device that "Transaction" is displayed in the Device Type column is a transaction volume.

In order to display the transaction volume details, click the target device name.

11.3.3.4 Release Transaction Volume or Backup Volume

The procedure to release the setting as a transaction volume or backup volume is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.
    The devices are displayed on the Main pane.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

  6. On the Action pane, click Release Volume Type under Device Types.
    The information confirmation screen is displayed.

  7. Confirm the information, and then click Release.

11.3.3.5 Set/Display/Delete Backup Policy

The procedure to set a backup policy to the transaction volume and the procedure to display/delete the backup policy set to the transaction volume are as follows:
To display the backup policy, perform from step 1 to step 4.
Otherwise, perform all steps.

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.
    The backup policy (Backup generations to Keep, Backup Interval) set for each transaction volume is displayed on the Main pane.

  5. Perform the following procedures according to the operation purpose.

    For Setting Backup Policy
    1. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

    2. On the Action pane, click Set Backup Policy under Backup Policy.
      The information input screen is displayed.

    3. Enter the necessary information, and then click Set.

    For Deleting Backup Policy
    1. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

    2. On the Action pane, click Release Backup Policy under Backup Policy.
      The information confirmation screen is displayed.

    3. Confirm the information, and then click Release.

11.3.3.6 Start/Resume Synchronous Copy (EC)

The procedure to start/resume the synchronous copy (EC) is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

  6. On the Action pane, click Start/Resume Sync. under High Speed Backup.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  7. Refer to the following table to enter the necessary information, and then click Start/Resume Sync Copy.

    Item Name

    Explanation

    Select Type

    Specify the selection method of the backup volume.

    Auto-select selects the most suitable backup volume automatically.
    To back up to the specific backup volume, it is necessary to click the Use a device map file radio button and to enter the device map file name.

11.3.3.7 Perform Backup

The procedure to perform the backup is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

  6. On the Action pane, click Backup under High Speed Backup.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  7. Refer to the following table to enter the necessary information, and then click Backup.

    Explanation

    Backup Type

    Specify the backup method.

    • To use the snap shot type high-speed backup, select either of the following:

      • Start Snapshot Copy (OPC) / Stop Synchronized Copy (EC)

      • Start Snapshot Copy (QuickOPC)

    • To use the synchronous backup, select either of the following:

      • Start Snapshot Copy (OPC) / Stop Synchronized Copy (EC)

      • Suspend Synchronized Copy (EC)

        To use the synchronous backup, it is necessary to perform the procedure of "11.3.3.6 Start/Resume Synchronous Copy (EC)" before performing the backup.

    Select Type

    Specify the selection method of the backup volume.

    Auto-select selects the most suitable backup volume automatically.
    To back up to the specific backup volume, it is necessary to click the Use a device map file radio button and to enter the device map file name.

    Flush file system buffer only. It does not lock source device (Windows only)

    To flush the file system buffer instead of volume locking because of the data guarantee for the replication source device, click this checkbox.
    This is valid only when OS of the server that has the transaction volume is Windows.

11.3.3.8 Display Tracking Status

The procedure to display the tracking status is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the Tracking Status tab.

11.3.3.9 Stop Tracking Processing

The procedure to stop the tracking processing is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Action pane, click Cancel Tracking (QuickOPC) under High Speed Backup.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  6. Click the target device checkbox.

  7. Click Cancel Tracking.

11.3.3.10 Display Synchronous Status

The procedure to display the synchronous status is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the Sync. Status tab.

11.3.3.11 Stop Synchronous Processing

The procedure to stop the synchronous processing is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Action pane, click Cancel Sync. Copy (EC) under High Speed Backup.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  6. Click the target device checkbox.

  7. Click Cancel Sync. Copy.

11.3.3.12 Perform Restore

The procedure to perform the restore from the backup volume is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

  6. On the Action pane, click Restore under High Speed Backup.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  7. Enter the necessary information, and then click Restore.

11.3.3.13 Display Restore Status

The procedure to display the restore status is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the Restore Status tab.

11.3.3.14 Delete Backup History

The procedure to delete a backup history is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

  6. On the Action pane, click Delete Backup Generation under Backup Generation.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  7. Click the target generation checkbox. In addition, click the Emergency Mode checkbox in the case of the emergency operation mode.

  8. Click Delete.

11.3.3.15 Refresh Copy Status of Backup Operation

The procedure to update the backup status to the latest information is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Action pane, click Refresh under Status.
    The latest copy status is gathered from the storage device. In order to display the latest copy status on the screen, click on the menu area.

11.3.3.16 Backup Error Recovery

The procedure to perform the recovery for the backup management files is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Server.
    The registered servers are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target server name.

  3. On the Category pane, click Advanced Copy.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Advanced Copy.

  4. On the Category pane, click Backup Operation.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target device checkbox.

  6. On the Action pane, click Error Recovery under Maintenance.
    The information input screen is displayed.

  7. Enter the necessary information, and then click Recovery.
