To use Quick Launch, one of the following is required:
Express
Express and AdvancedCopy Manager
Storage Cruiser and AdvancedCopy Manager
Perform a setup in advance by referring to the Installation and Setup Guide for the product and by referring to a suitable operation guide (the Express Operation Guide, the Storage Cruiser Operation Guide, or the AdvancedCopy Manager Operation Guide) for the product.
Supported Hardware
Quick Launch supports the following hardware:
Storage devices
ETERNUS DX S5/S4/S3 series (V10L70 or later firmware is required for the ETERNUS DX S4/S3 series.)
ETERNUS AF All-Flash Arrays (V10L70 or later firmware is required for the ETERNUS AF series.)
Business servers
When Express is used
There are no restrictions.
When Storage Cruiser is used
Servers which the Storage Cruiser's agent can be installed
For details about servers, refer to "Operating Environment of Storage Cruiser's Agent" in the Installation and Setup Guide.
VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter Server
For information on the supported version, refer to "Devices Supported by Storage Cruiser" under "Supported Devices" in the Installation and Setup Guide.
Fibre Channel switches
Fibre Channel switches are supported only when Storage Cruiser is used. For information on the supported devices, refer to "Devices Supported by Storage Cruiser" under "Supported Devices" in the Installation and Setup Guide.
Supported connection types between business servers and storage devices
FC connections and iSCSI connections are supported.
Supported Operations
The following operations can be performed with Quick Launch.
Creating pools
You can create Thin Provisioning Pools (TPP).
Creating and assigning volumes to a server
You can create Thin Provisioning Volumes (TPV).
If Storage Cruiser is used, FC switch zoning is set when the created TPV is assigned to a server.
Snapshot-type high-speed copies with the Advanced Copy function of storage devices
You can create snapshots and restore from snapshots to a business volume with SnapOPC+ of Advanced Copy function of storage devices and the Copy command via LAN.
In addition, you can delete snapshots.
Point
If volumes other than Thin Provisioning Volumes exist in the target storage device, perform the above operations from Detail View.
Information
In manuals of this product, a business volume is called "transaction volume".
