9.17 Settings for the Console Connection Function [Windows Manager]

This section explains the configuration to perform when using the console connection function to connect to servers using the [L-Platforms] tab of the ROR console.

Enabling the console connection function displays the [Console] button for connecting to the console of the target server when a server is selected on the L-Platform details screen.

The procedure for configuration is shown below.

Point

This function enables tenant administrators and tenant users to connect to the console of the VM management software from the L-Platform Details screen in order to perform emergency server maintenance.

As tenant administrators and tenant users are able to access VM hosts, the infrastructure administrator should consider the system as having a multi-tenant configuration, and modify the security settings as appropriate in order to prevent any potential risks to secure operation.

When using VMware vSphere 6.5 or later, also configure the "9.18 Settings for the Console Connection Function (VMware vSphere 6.5 or later) [Windows Manager]".

  1. Refer to the following manual, and enable the console connection function from the admin client.

    "17.3 Using the L-Server Console" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE"

  2. Use an editor to open the settings file.

    The settings file is stored in the following location.

    [Windows Manager]

    Installation_folder\RCXCTMG\MyPortal\config\managerview_config.xml
  3. Add the following keys and values.

    enable-console-connection-tenant-admin

    true: Enables the function for console connection for tenant administrators.

    false: Disables the function for console connection for tenant administrators. This applies even if this key is not defined.

    enable-console-connection-tenant-user

    true: Enables the function for console connection for tenant users.

    false: Disables the function for console connection for tenant users. This applies even if this key is not defined.

    Point

    If either of these settings is enabled, dual-role administrators will also be able to see the [Console] button.

  4. Save the file.

  5. Restart the manager.

    Refer to "2.1 Starting and Stopping Managers" in the "Operation Guide CE" for information on how to restart the manager.
