E.2.2 Migration Procedure

The procedure below indicates how to migrate an environment in which the GFS Shared File System is used.

  1. Back up the data on the GFS Shared File System.
    Back up each file on the GFS Shared File System in the migration source environment. Use tar(1), cpio(1), or backup software.

  2. Build the migration destination environment.
    Build a global zone, non-global zone, and cluster applications in the migration destination environment. For details on how to build the environment, see "Using PRIMECLUSTER in Oracle Solaris Zones Environments" in "PRIMECLUSTER Installation and Administration Guide."

  3. Create the GFS Shared File System on a global zone.
    Create the GFS Shared File System on a global zone.

  4. Restore the backup data in the migration destination environment.
    Restore the data on the GFS Shared File System that was backed up in step 1 to the GFS Shared File System in the destination global zone.

  5. Share the GFS Shared File System both on a global zone and a non-global zone.
    Share the GFS Shared File System which was created on a global zone in a non-global zone. For the setting, see "1.8.10 GFS operational notices for Solaris Zones" in this manual.
