I.4 Restoration to the Operation System from a Disaster Recovery System

This sub-section describes the procedure when the operation system is restored by using data on a disaster recovery system after restoring hardware of the operation system.

The outline of restoration procedure is as follows:

  1. Cancel copying of storage.

  2. Restore the data from the system backup on the operation system.

  3. When the objects of local class or shared class exist on the operation system, delete object configuration information. (sdxconfig Remove command)
Before deleting the shared class, change the shared class to the local class by the sdxattr -C command.
If the object configuration information cannot be deleted due to storage device replacement etc., the configuration information must be deleted forcefully. For the forceful deletion method, contact field engineers.

  4. Convert the configuration files backed up in step 1 in "I.1 Building a Disaster Recovery System." Remove disks other than the copy destination of the storage copy process from each mirror group. (sdxconfig Convert -e remove command)

  5. When using the copy function per slice of storage (such as REC of ETERNUS Disk storage system), restore object configuration information on the operation system. (sdxconfig Restore command)
After executing the sdxconfig Restore command, reboot the server where the sdxconfig Restore command was executed.
After the server is restarted, set the shared class (change type from local to shared) using (sdxattr -C command) and set using (hvgdsetup -a command) to use the shared class in the cluster application.

  6. Copy data of the local class and shared class to one case on the operation system from one case on a disaster recovery system by using the copy function of storage.

  7. When copying of storage becomes synchronized, cancel copying of the storage.

  8. When using the copy function per LUN (such as ACM CCM) of storage, restore object configuration information on the operation system. (sdxconfig Restore command)
In the sdxconfig Restore command, -e chkps option is set.
After executing the sdxconfig Restore command, reboot the server where the sdxconfig Restore command was executed.
After the server is restarted, set the shared class (change type from local to shared) using (sdxattr -C command) and set using (hvgdsetup -a command) to use the shared class in the cluster application.

  9. When mirroring storage on the operation system, add a disk to a mirror group on the operation system. (sdxdisk -M and sdxdisk -C commands)
