This section describes the operation on Model upgrade for ETERNUS Disk storage system on Web Console.

Operation on Model Upgrade from DX60 S4 to DX100 S4, from DX100 S4 to DX200 S4, from DX60 S3 to DX100 S3, from DX100 S3 to DX200 S3, from DX500 S3 to DX600 S3, from DX8700 S3 to DX8900 S3
Use the following procedure for applying Model upgrade options:
If Advanced Copy is in progress, stop Advanced Copy processing.
Apply Model upgrade options for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Perform the following steps on Web Console:
Reload the latest information about the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.1.9 Reload ETERNUS Disk Storage System Configuration Information" for information on how to reload the latest information.
Delete the license registered with the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.3 Delete License" for information on how to delete the license.
Register the license with the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.1 Register License" for information on how to register the license.
Note
The device model name after applying Model upgrade options is displayed as "nameAfterApplyingModelUpgradeOptions"/"nameBeforeApplyingModelUpgradeOptions".
When you reload configuration information of the device which is applied Model upgrade options, make sure that the license for the device model before applying Model upgrade options is registered.
In the following cases, you cannot reload configuration information.
When all of the licenses for the device which is applied Model upgrade options are deleted.
When no license is registered with the device which is applied Model upgrade options.
When you cannot reload configuration information since all of the licenses are deleted, provisionally register the license of the old device. Then, reload configuration information of the device.
Operation on Model Upgrade from DX200 S3 to DX500 S3
When the VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes function is not used
Use the following procedure for applying Model upgrade options:
If Advanced Copy is in progress, stop Advanced Copy processing.
If Automated Storage Tiering has already been started for Tier pools, stop it for all the Tier pools. If a Tier pool with two or more layers exists, record the Tiering policy name for the Tier pool and the values set for level of each sub-pool in the Tier pool.
If the Automated QoS function is used, perform the following steps on Web Console:
Check the Automated QoS settings for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
On the Overview screen of the target ETERNUS Disk storage system, check which the Automated QoS status is set to "Activate" or "Stop", and record the status. Refer to "7.1.2 Display ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to check the status.
Check the Automated QoS settings for FTVs.
Check the Automated QoS settings for all FTVs and record them. For the Automated QoS settings for each FTV, check them on the Automated QoS settings configuration screen which is listed in "7.17.2 Change Configuration of Automated QoS Function". In the Automated QoS settings configuration screen, only check the settings but do not change them.
For all FTVs, check the settings and record them.
If the Reporting function is used, check the Reporting status for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system on Web Console. On the Overview screen of the target ETERNUS Disk storage system, check which the Reporting status is set to "Activate" or "Stop", and record the status. Refer to "7.1.2 Display ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to check the status.
If the Storage Cluster function is used, deconstruct the Storage Cluster environment. Refer to the following section in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide.

Perform the following steps on Web Console:
Delete the license registered with the target ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.3 Delete License" for information on how to delete the license.
Delete the target ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.1.3 Delete ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to delete the ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Apply Model upgrade options for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Perform the following steps on Web Console:
Register the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.1.1 Register ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to register.
Register the license with the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.1 Register License" for information on how to register the ETERNUS Disk storage system.
If you have used the Advanced Copy function before applying Model upgrade options, reconfigure the connection type for the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.11.2 Configure Connection Type for ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to reconfigure the connection type.
If you used Automated Storage Tiering, refer to "Recycling of Tier Pool Made in Storage Device" in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide for Optimization Function to recycle Tier pools that exist in the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. For the Tiering policy name and level of sub-pools for the Tier pool, specify the same values as those recorded in step 2. On completion of settings, start Automated Storage Tiering for the Tier pool.
If you used the Automated QoS function, perform the following steps on Web Console:
Reflect the Automated QoS settings, which were recorded in step 3-a, to the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.17.1 Enable/Disable Automated QoS Function" for information on how to reflect the settings.
Reflect the Automated QoS settings for all FTVs, which were recorded in step 3-b, to the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.17.2 Change Configuration of Automated QoS Function" for information on how to reflect the settings.
If you used the Reporting function, reflect the Reporting settings, which were noted down in step 4, to the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.18.1 Enable/Disable Reporting Function" for information on how to reflect the settings.
If you used the Storage Cluster function, reconstruct the Storage Cluster environment. Refer to the following section in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide.

When the VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes function is used
Use the following procedure for applying Model upgrade options:
Power off the VMWare Guest on the vSphere Web Client.
Delete backups of the virtual machine, which is obtained by the Snapshot backup.
Delete ETERNUS VASA Provider that is managing the ETERNUS Disk storage system to be upgraded from VMware vCenter Server.
If Advanced Copy is in progress, stop Advanced Copy processing.
If Automated Storage Tiering has already been started for Tier pools, stop it for all the Tier pools. If a Tier pool with two or more layers exists, record the Tiering policy name for the Tier pool and the values set for level of each sub-pool in the Tier pool.
If the Automated QoS function is used, perform the following steps on Web Console:
Check the Automated QoS settings for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

For all FTVs, check the settings and record them.

On the Overview screen of the target ETERNUS Disk storage system, check which the Reporting status is set to "Activate" or "Stop", and record the status. Refer to "7.1.2 Display ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to check the status.
If the Storage Cluster function is used, deconstruct the Storage Cluster environment. Refer to the following section in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide.

With Web Console, check the pre-upgrade serial number of the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Perform the following steps on Web Console:
Delete the license registered with the target ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.3 Delete License" for information on how to delete the license.
Delete the target ETERNUS Disk storage system without deleting the VVOL access path, so do not check the Remove Access Path checkbox. Refer to "7.1.3 Delete ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to delete the ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Apply Model upgrade options for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Perform the following steps on Web Console:
Register the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.1.1 Register ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to register.
Register the license with the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.1 Register License" for information on how to register the ETERNUS Disk storage system.
If you have used the Advanced Copy function before applying Model upgrade options, reconfigure the connection type for the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.11.2 Configure Connection Type for ETERNUS Disk Storage System" for information on how to reconfigure the connection type.
With Web Console, check the post-upgrade serial number of the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
After checking it, execute the following batch file with a user with OS administrator privileges on the Management Server.
> $INS_DIR\ESC\Manager\opt\FJSVssmgr\bin\esfvvolmodelupgrade.bat preUpgradeSerialNumber postUpgradeSerialNumber

$INS_DIR is "Program Directory" specified at the ETERNUS SF Manager installation.
If the return value of the batch file is "0", the batch file is completed successfully.
Execute the esfadm esfdata backup command on the Management Server.
Refer to "Command References" in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide for information on the command.
Register ETERNUS VASA Provider that was deleted in step 3 to VMware vCenter Server.
If you used Automated Storage Tiering, refer to "Recycling of Tier Pool Made in Storage Device" in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide for Optimization Function to recycle Tier pools that exist in the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. For the Tiering policy name and level of sub-pools for the Tier pool, specify the same values as those recorded in step 5. On completion of settings, start Automated Storage Tiering for the Tier pool.
If you used the Automated QoS function, perform the following steps on Web Console:
Reflect the Automated QoS settings, which were recorded in step 6-a, to the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.17.1 Enable/Disable Automated QoS Function" for information on how to reflect the settings.
Reflect the Automated QoS settings for all FTVs, which were recorded in step 6-b, to the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.17.2 Change Configuration of Automated QoS Function" for information on how to reflect the settings.
If you used the Reporting function, reflect the Reporting settings, which were noted down in step 7, to the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.18.1 Enable/Disable Reporting Function" for information on how to reflect the settings.
If you used the Storage Cluster function, reconstruct the Storage Cluster environment. Refer to the following section in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Operation Guide.

Power on the VMWare Guest on the vSphere Web Client.
Note
A serial number of ETERNUS Disk storage system may change after applying Model upgrade options. If you apply Model upgrade options without deleting ETERNUS Disk storage system, ETERNUS SF may not recognize the new ETERNUS Disk storage system.
In this case, delete the new ETERNUS Disk storage system and re-register it.
If you apply Model upgrade options for ETERNUS Disk storage system without deleting the license, the screen displays the license list for the old device. To display the license list for the new device, delete all of the registered licenses and update the screen.
Register the license after displaying the license list for the new device.
The output result of the Reporting function is counted per storage device. Accordingly, if a serial number is changed due to Model upgrade, it is counted as the one belonging to a different storage device. If you want to count it as the one belonging to the same storage device, modify the accounting application.
Operation on Model Upgrade from DX80 S2 to DX90 S2, from DX410 S2 to DX440 S2
Use the following procedure for applying Model upgrade options:
If Advanced Copy is in progress, stop Advanced Copy processing.
Apply Model upgrade options for the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.
Perform the following steps on Web Console:
Reload the latest information about the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.1.9 Reload ETERNUS Disk Storage System Configuration Information" for information on how to reload the latest information.
Delete the license registered with the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.3 Delete License" for information on how to delete the license.
Register the license with the upgraded ETERNUS Disk storage system. Refer to "7.7.1 Register License" for information on how to register the license.

Note
A serial number of ETERNUS Disk storage system may change after applying Model upgrade options. If you apply Model upgrade options without deleting ETERNUS Disk storage system, ETERNUS SF may not recognize the new ETERNUS Disk storage system.
