5.9.3 Registering Guest Domains on Oracle VM for SPARC

This section explains the methods for registering guest domains on Oracle VM for SPARC.

When a guest domain is registered as a VM host, information for zones created on the guest domain is also displayed.

Use the following procedure to register VM hosts. Perform it with the VM guest started.

When using a virtual L-Server for the target guest domain, if the IP address specified when performing this operation is used for the admin LAN of the virtual L-Server, perform this operation after deleting the NIC.

  1. In the ROR console server resource tree, right-click the VM guest in [Server Resources], and select [Register]-[Agent] from the popup menu.

The [Register VM Host] dialog is displayed.

  2. To use this feature, the following settings must be defined:

    Admin LAN IP Address

Enter the IP address of the XSCF of the target chassis.
Enter the IP address using periods ".".

    Note

    • After registering the guest domain, confirm that the VM guest is displayed under the VM host in the guest domain of Oracle VM for SPARC, and that the same VM guest is in the Solaris Zone operating on the actual server.
When different VM guests are displayed, check the registered IP address and then change it to the correct one.

    • L-Servers in L-Platforms cannot be registered.

    User ID

Enter the user ID to log in to the guest domain.
Specify the user ID "root" which has guest domain administrator authority.

    Password

Enter the password of the user to log in to the VM host.
Enter up to 256 characters, including alphanumeric characters, blank spaces (" "), and symbols.

  3. Click the [OK] button.

The registered VM Host will be displayed in the server resource tree.
