5.5.3 Registering the Public LAN (MAC Address) Information

This section explains how to register the public LAN (MAC address) information required when using a rack mount server or a tower server.


When Coordinating with VIOM

Use the following procedure to register the public LAN (MAC address) information.

It is also necessary to register a public LAN (MAC address) information when using a rack mount server or a tower server as a server resource of a physical L-Server.

  1. Definition File Settings

    Configure the definition file.
    For details, refer to "5.1.2 When Managing Rack Mount or Tower Servers Using VIOM".

  2. In the ROR console server resource tree, right-click the target server, and select [Modify]-[Public LAN (MAC Address) Information] from the popup menu.

    The [Public LAN (MAC Address) Information] dialog is displayed.

  3. Click the [Add] button to add the same number of input areas as the number of MAC addresses to register.

  4. Enter the physical MAC addresses of the NICs for the public LAN.

    • Enter the physical MAC addresses of the NICs, not the virtual MAC address allocated by VIOM.

    • Enter the physical MAC addresses of the NICs for the public LAN in the order defined in the definition file described in step 1.


When Not Coordinating with VIOM

Use the following procedure to register the public LAN (MAC address) information.

  1. In the ROR console server resource tree, right-click the target server, and select [Modify]-[Public LAN (MAC Address) Information] from the popup menu.

    The [Public LAN (MAC Address) Information] dialog is displayed.

  2. Click the [Add] button to add the same number of input areas as the number of MAC addresses to register.

  3. Enter the MAC address of the NIC for the public LAN.

Point

Check the value of the MAC address to enter using the remote management controller. For details, refer to the manuals provided with the hardware.

Information

To display the link information with the network device on NetworkViewer, it is necessary to register the network device as well. For details, refer to "5.7 Registering Network Devices".

Note

The MAC address used for the admin LAN is specified when registering a server.
