9.5.4 Maintenance Procedures of Network Devices (Virtual Appliances)

This section explains the maintenance procedure of network devices (virtual appliances).

9.5.4.1 Addition of an IPCOM VA when Adding a Tenant

This section explains the procedure for addition, assuming a case where it is necessary to add IPCOM VA as a virtual appliance in order to add a tenant.

The explanation is mainly about operations related to IPCOM VA.

When there is no description, the following operations are performed by an infrastructure administrator.

  1. Design the network configuration to add.

Define the virtual fabric (VFAB) used in the tenant, and configure the Ethernet Fabric switch (Converged Fabric) in the VFAB. (Network device administrator)

  2. Perform installation and setup of IPCOM VA.

At this time, configure the VFAB VLAN ID of the virtual fabric defined in step 1 in the IPCOM VX virtual machine interface. (Network device administrator)

  3. Acquire the information of the added IPCOM VA and VFAB from the administrator of network devices.

  4. Create the network configuration information (XML definition) using the acquired information.

  5. When adding a server used in the tenant, register server resources.

  6. Create a tenant and register a tenant administrator.

  7. Register the created network configuration information.

Use the rcxadm netconfig import command to register network configuration information.

  8. Register the server and IPCOM VA added to the resource pool of the tenant.
