This section explains activities or information on the Live Help Expert and Monitor programs that can be restricted by Live Help Security Setup command.
Refer to the section Live Help Security Setup Command Usage in this chapter on how to use the command.
MRU Connections List
When you successfully made a connection to a Client, the information of the Client is added to the MRU connections list of your Live Help Expert or Monitor program. By using the MRU connections list, you can easily connect to the Client computer without specifying the IP address or session name of the Client. Therefore, the MRU connections list is very useful, but the IP address or session name of the Client you have connected is not necessarily required information for other users.
By enabling the access control on the Live Help Expert and Monitor programs using Live Help Security Setup command, you can limit access to the information about previously connected Client computers, as follows.
You can Limit Access to:
The MRU connections list displayed on the SESSION menu (Information of up to 4 recently connected Clients)
The information of the previously connected Client in the "Join a Session" dialog box
The following is behavior of Live Help Expert and Monitor programs.
Access Control | MRU connections list and the information of the previously connected Client |
---|---|
Enabled to restrict access by any user | Will not be displayed regardless of the rights of user who started Live Help Expert/Monitor. |
Enabled to restrict access by users without administrative privileges | Will only be displayed when the user who started Live Help Expert/Monitor has administrative privileges. |
Disabled | Will be displayed always. |
Note
By default, the access control is disabled.
If you change the access control setting while the Live Help Expert or Monitor program is running, the new setting will take effect when you restart the program.
Session Journal Setup program
Session Journal is a feature used to record key session events that occur when using Live Help Client, Expert and Monitor. Events recorded include all session-related functions and file operations.
By using Live Help Security Setup command, you can restrict users from changing the configuration of Session Journal for Live Help Expert and Monitor programs, as follows.
Access Control | Session Journal Setup program |

Enabled to restrict changes by any user | Cannot be changed because the "Live Help Expert" and "Live Help Monitor" options in the "Change settings on" field will be grayed out regardless of the rights of user who started Session Journal Setup program. |
Enabled to restrict changes by users without administrative privileges | Can only be changed when the user who started Session Journal Setup program has administrative privileges. |
Disabled | Can be changed always. |
Refer to Session Journal Setup and Configuration for further information about the Session Journal function.
