In the first method, the Support Specialist places a data call to the Client. The connection process is similar to establishing a network session because the Client waits for a connection from the Support Specialist.
The Client application is configured for the Modem Communications Type, and the Wait for Call option. When the Client application starts, the Client startup dialog box appears and the modem is placed in "auto answer" mode to wait for the incoming data call.
To dial the client:
Select the Modem connection method in the Join a Session:
Enter a password if the Client set one, and then type the Client's modem telephone number in the Phone Number field. You can also click on an entry in the Address Book list if there is an entry for the Client.
If you are not using Dialing Rules (i.e. you have created an address book entry that is configured not to use them), be sure to include any required pre-dial numbers such as "1" for long distance or an "8" or "9" for an outside line, when typing the phone number. You can include spaces and dashes to separate the digits of the telephone number.
The Support Specialist then selects his or her current telephone location from the Dialing From drop-down box. This drop-down list box displays the standard dialing locations defined in your copy of Windows(R). To add or remove a dialing location, click the Dial Rules button and use the controls in the Dial Rules dialog box. You can also use the Dial Rules button to automatically add any needed prefix numbers, to suppress the dialing of your local area code, or to enter calling card information.
After specifying required items, click OK. A modem connection is established, and the support session begins.
